This is gish propaganda. Nothing wrong with two barbs side by side soaking up damage together or two casters taking turns wiping the field from a tall spot.
Everyone could use a healer, though.

Healers aren't rare. We just roll with each other.
Was about to say, I'm a healer main who married a healer main. It has its perks
My local stadium hires a security company called DPS. I stopped one of them and said "y'all's comp is unbalanced, try sprinkling in some mages and tanks" and he had no idea what I was talking about.
Bystander laughed though so it wasn't wasted time.
also consider polamory as you want the trifecta and maybe even an extra dps or two.
Half of all polycules come about solely to form an adequately-sized D&D campaign.
(Or so all the relevant polyam memes in my FB feed tell me.)
Just make sure everyone has their WIS maxed out or you’ll have a bad time.
lets not ask for the moon. how are we going to find one dps with high wis much less two.
Or polearmory, that reach is very helpful
New existential crisis unlocked: what class am I?
Oh it's easy. Check your character sheet top right
Oh... Oh, no! I was supposed to have a character sheet?!
As long as you brought food, the dungeon master won't kick you out
I find that DMs become quite patient with helping players make character sheets when provided a can of coke and some donuts/chips.
First you got to have the existential crisis of figuring out what system you are playing. You can't just assume D&D. Once you get that out of the way save room on your schedule for a smaller crisis about which edition you are dealing with...
Hahaa, Chaotic Good Human Monk! Guess I'm stayin' single, babyyy!
OK but literally. I'm a healer. Started dating a tank main. Dps are a dime a dozen so we never have queue issues.
I'm the healer and my partner is a dps. Healers and Tanks seem so criminally underplayed that I alone massively skew the queue times.
Healer and Tank combo must be borderline instant
I'm a plate DPS main and I married a healer. There is a lot of pressure to 'just tank' for her.
I usually prefer range shooty man and lately my healer wife, bored with nothing to heal, decided to be range shooty girl.
And now we can't kill things fast enough so now she stays shooty girl and I'm tank/~~healer~~hope I don't die.
what do I do if I'm a healer
Prepare some side quests to give a potential mate, obviously. Then stand around in a light beam and wait.
ETA:
Or find another healer. That way when you introduce your healer partner, they can tell you what a waste you are.
Find a warrior or mage I guess?
I took this quiz, I am a neutral good human monk: https://easydamus.com/character.html
Edit to say I am not looking to pair up lol, just thought it was a fun quiz
more viable in the current meta
... the what?
They are making a joke equating real life romance to video games. The "current meta" refers to whatever class build/equipment load out is most powerful in the current version of the game.
Or whatever people think is the most powerful, at least. It's worth noting that the meta can often be wrong, and if you play what you enjoy, you might find yourself discovering something stronger.
Thank you both
Also crushing isn't the only viable goal. Like you said, if you just want to enjoy yourself and not even worry about what's stronger or weaker, that's super valid
Rogue main looking for his rogue soulmate to make the perfect gank couple
Paladins are very angry rn
Good
I'm only interested in DPS.
Dicks Per Second.
Is it better to marry a pocket healer or am I in for a lot of trouble if I do
This is false for at least World of Warcraft. Everyone who has every done any random group content can attest to the fact that it is always hardest to find a good tank.
I think tank in most MMOs is a low-desire role. It typically hinges entirely on having a healer to keep you tanking, as well as holding an immense responsibility to be aware of aggro patterns and incoming debuffs. You eat a lot of blame for not tanking well, even if it's just because your healers mispositioned or some DPS decided to steal aggro by spamming too much of X move.
And generally, you don't feel as much of the "I did a thing!" feeling as, say, a rogue pumping out damage or a mage casting a slew of debuffs and DoTs.
When I was younger, I always played a tank, and yea the blame was always high, raid goes good, it was DPS got the good job, raid goes bad, fucking tanks fault.
and if you are two healers then Go Team Cleric!
Four White Mages? It’ll never work.
"Cosmonaut Marcus" makes sense now.
IIRC, this is basically what happens, in a way. Our scent makes us more attractive to people with different sets of immonorelevant genes, so that our offspring has a wider array of defenses.
My wife loved playing a healer in WoW, so we never had any problems finding raid groups or arena partners.
