There is such a thing as a coven of wizards, but it's typically referred to as an argument.

[–] aeronmelon 34 points 6 months ago (3 children)

Most of said arguments being started by Usidore the Blue.

[–] FuglyDuck 17 points 6 months ago

Just because he asked how the weather was… doesn’t mean he started it!

[–] DontTreadOnBigfoot 10 points 6 months ago

Well if that conspiracy of wind, fire, earth, and birds didn't want an argument, they wouldn't have brought him fully formed into being...

[–] Mango 4 points 6 months ago

Oh and here's aeronmelon out of the blue starting arguments to make me look bad!

And what do those councils do whenever they get together?

[–] Valmond 6 points 6 months ago

I just love english and their crazy namings. I mean I know it's not correct but it could be. It really could be.

[–] Mango 1 points 6 months ago

Omg pls let this be real.

[–] ladicius 64 points 6 months ago (1 children)

That topic was extensively covered by Terry Pratchett including the possible erotic implications.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Can I get a (few) title(s), please?

I've read (only) half of the disc-world books, but I don't know what you're referencing.

[–] ladicius 20 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Definitely Lords and Ladies, see the reference to a romance a few lines down in https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unseen_University#Archchancellor.

There's also a lot of references to sex and romance in nearly all books revolving around Granny Weather and Nanny Ogg and the younger witches they educate. See for books and references in https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Granny_Weatherwax.

I always suggest to read the whole disc world series in the order of their publication - first of all they're all very entertaining books, and the order of publication develops the whole scenario as Terry Pratchett intended.

Have fun :)

Wizard is a magic science user

Witch is a magic chemistry user

Warlock is a magic outsourcer

Sorcerer is just built different

[–] [email protected] 2 points 6 months ago (1 children)

How about Oneiromancers such as Freud?

[–] Almrond 2 points 6 months ago

Magic talkers. Artificers are magic tinkerers, mages are magic soldiers, hags are magic gardeners, the list goes on I'm sure.

[–] Drummyralf 12 points 6 months ago (2 children)

Druids, mages, sages, shamans, that one weird aunt.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

How could I forget the earth magic people!

Let’s not forget pyromancers, necromancers, and floramancers to name a few more magic users

[–] menemen 6 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (2 children)

How do you guys always forget the clerics. You have no problem taking our buffs, but God forbid mentioning us in a list...

(also paladins)

[–] Drummyralf 4 points 6 months ago (2 children)

And what about the rights of the muggles that do streetmagic, illusionists, magicians and slight-of-hand masters? They can sort of bring some magic to the table.

[–] menemen 4 points 6 months ago

Are you Harry Dresden?

[–] AA5B 1 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

But it all comes down to the fae, the fairies, the fair folk

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago

Sir this is a Wendy’s

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA 13 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I have really appreciated my coven, honestly. I'm their poop wizard.

[–] extant 6 points 6 months ago

The fiber that binds them?

[–] RebekahWSD 7 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Me and one half back cat are looking for a coven!

Only magic the cat can do is eat, sleep, and roll around on the floor being cute.

[–] BluesF 3 points 6 months ago

You and the cat can join my coven. I hope you can do magic tho cause my skills align more closely with the cat...
