Yes, the autopilot is awfully familiar. Excellent reference.

In that they won't have any meaningful regulating done to them or suffer any actual consequences despite the obviously evil shit of which they're plainly guilty?

I can't believe it's still at 170+. People must really not realize that the first mover advantage is over, and Tesla has had their moment already. They are not going to lead this change to evs. Most manufacturers have good or better electric cars now.

Also people can't afford them. Current prices are ridiculous. The company that brings low price evs that are good enough will dominate the market the next 5 years. It won't be Tesla.

The fact that a single company is higher valued than the entire car market should ring all alarm bells. Because afaik is Mercedes already ahead of Tesla in regarding (autonomous) self driving. But don't quote me on it.

"The market" (stocks) has been and will continue to be divorced from reality but to play devil's advocate, Tesla and it's investors consider it "more than just a car company". It's still ridiculous, but that's the market for ya.

Mercedes "full self driving" is only on designated routes.

Investigate it? The dude literally named it “autopilot”, what is there to investigate, they market this explicitly in their advertising.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

There are several things to attack on the Tesla autopilot, the name being the least of the misleading marketing, and honestly a bit stupid to focus on.

The dude has claimed for close to a decade now, that (FSD) "is right around the corner!"... "It's coming end of the year" and shit like that. That is significantly more misleading than a product name (autopilot) that is about the same level of misleading as other manufacturers names for similar functionality.

They have not claimed autopilot to be any more than a driver assistance feature, and it has always been marketed separately from the FSD package.

Elon, suddenly: I'm really concerned about what is going on in Palestine.

Im sure they'll get a fine that's .000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% of their daily profits

[–] just_another_person 5 points 1 month ago

Notice how no other car makers overstepped that boundary because they aren't desperate for PR attention.
