Doesn't change when you leave school and start work

turns out both school and work are profoundly dysfunctional systems that bear no regard for the feelings of students/workers, and only exist to train us into being good little wage slaves so corporations can extract value from us

That's called fear. The world is a scary place. It doesn't mean something's fundamentally wrong with you. It means your environment is too complex for you to know the best thing to do.

It's natural for an animal (humans are animals, sa sa que?) to freeze when it doesn't know the best path forward.

I can't give a solution here. Anyone who's frozen each day, struggling to get basic movement going, I feel for you.

Just know that it's possible for that state to end. I've been there so many years of my life, and I don't have it any more. It comes in a little bit, but I've learned the ways to get moving again.

The thing to remember is that sitting still makes the fear worse, and that moving forward makes it a little less. It feels exactly the opposite, but once you're moving your body is producing dopamine, which reduces pain.

Also, be aware that depression and anxiety tend to be worst in the morning. For most people at least, it's worst in the morning then gets less over the course of the day.

Sleep is the only medicine

As someone who hasn't gotten up for school in a while, one key is to wake up so late that you're always late and just let the adrenaline take you.

The answer van ...

That's just a rewrap of The Mystery Machine, right?

I used to do this, and so did my mom. About a year ago I started spam calling my mom as soon as my alarm goes off. It makes sure that we both stay awake and get up on time, and we can bullshit while we get ready for work. It's honestly really nice.

don't find peace with how things are, organize and push for bad things to be improved!

I'm glad I haven't had to go to school for a very long time.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 8 months ago

quitting school was absolutely the best thing i've done, it's such a toxic environment and it's even worse when NO ONE catches on to the fact that you're neurodivergent, and thus you just spend ten years feeling like an incompetent moron

The only school system i remotely tolerate the existence of is montessori schools, it's insane that we haven't made that the standard yet, but of course that's probably because it actually empowers kids to think for themselves and stand up for their rights..

I did that this morning before work. Luckily, I work from home most days.
