@kthalps

They didn’t refute their Jewishness. They “refute their Jewishness in a holocaust being hijacked by an occupation which has led to conflict for so many innocent people,” which is precisely what you’re doing by misquoting them.

@bungarsargon

I simply cannot fathom the moral rot in someone's soul that leads them to win an award for a movie about the Holocaust and with the platform given to them, to accept that award by saying, "We stand here as men who refute their Jewishness."

Not to mention how Jews weren't the only victims of the Holocaust,

Where's the homeland states for the gays roma and trade unionists?

No clue, but that would be a hell of a vacation spot!

This really hit for me. There's definitely been an effort to tie the actions of the state to the whole of the Jewish people and faith in a (bad faith) attempt to shield the state from criticism. Basically saying "woah, you can't criticize Jewish people for committing genocide, are you some kind of Nazi?" But it's not the Jewish capital-p People committing genocide, it's the state of Israel, and despite what the state would have you believe, those aren't the same things.

Wait, are people actually saying your average Jew is in favor of Palestinian genocide? I know a few Jews at work (more or less practicing), and they condemn what Israel is doing, while at the same time mourning the lives lost on Oct. 7.

There's a reason my Jewish co-workers don't live in Israel when they could absolutely get citizenship based on their religion alone.

Brave move from Glazer, definitely. You could see his hands shake as he read his speech.

Great. I think I'm having a stroke.
