Not to mention how Jews weren't the only victims of the Holocaust,
Where's the homeland states for the gays roma and trade unionists?
No clue, but that would be a hell of a vacation spot!
Emm... Jews were the only victims of the Holocaust/Shoa. Because that is the precise term for the national-socialist genocide against Jews.
There are other victims of Nazi persecution, like gays, Roma and Sinti, disabled people, socialists, communists etc., but they don't fall under the "Holocaust" category. For example, the genocide against Roma is called "Porajmos". The mass killing of disabled people is called "Krankenmorde". Etc.
Just as a linguistic headsup
Thets interesting information, but you could have worded a different way. They aren't wrong with our linguistics of today, just as a linguistics headsup. It's interesting that there were different names for these different acts, but it doesn't change anything about what they said.
🤓
Let's be fair to your comment though. No Jews weren't the only victims, but. But. 6 million Jews, 4.5 million Russian civies, 3.3 million Russian POWs, a few million more POWs, and then let's be absolutely honest. Miscellaneous.
Like yes, they did kill off 15k homosexuals, and that's absolutely horrifying, but in comparison, what was the Holocaust about? Jews. And a convenient place to dispose of POWs.
Not trying to refute that the holocaust was primarily about the genocide of Jewish people (which is true), but just adding some additional details about lgbt persecution around that time many might not be aware of.
The nazi laws used to persecute lgbt individuals were only repealed in part in 1969 in west Germany and 1968 in east Germany. Many lgbt individuals imprisoned by the nazis were left there after World War 2 and not freed like other groups. They continued to be imprisoned well after World War 2 (about 50,000 in west Germany between 1945 and 1969). The laws weren't fully repealed until 1994, and judgements not annulled until 2002. Until more recently they were not acknowledged among the victims. Jewish individuals or political prisoners that were also discovered to be lgbt were even made ineligible for survivor benefits. Victims only began to be offered some sort of compensation in 2017. I'm also not trying to insinuate that Germany was the only country with these kinds of attitudes, which were and are still very widespread in the world of course.

12/10 add in bud.
The point is that it isn't an excuse to do settler colonialist genocide and that were it any of those groups making the demands israel does with regards to backing off of its human rights violations, people would rightly say so.
No clue who downvoted you, you’re absolutely right
So... I guess you tried to make a different point but what came across for me is that much more Russians were killed than Jews
Well then, we need to make sure Russians have a place they can call home so that can't happen again!
Maybe they can have that weirdly little country nobody thinks about? You know, the one where the nuke plant melted down and killed everyone? Those guys don't deserve homes, the Russians do!
/s because I can smell the people who'll read this literally
Posting something like this would really make me reflect on myself and how I value other human beings.
Really? Because I'm replying to a comment that in context that I just put it in. Is stating that 6 million Jews is the same as 15k not Jews.
Context matters. The Holocaust happened. People matter, and regardless of who they are from birth, they matter equally.
Quick edit: I'm sorry if that's not the way the original poster wrote it in, but I've seen so much antisemitism in my life, disguised in so many ways and I'm tired of hearing that I'm worth effectively nothing as a person.
You reduced almost a million people who were killed for their political views to "miscellaneous" because they aren't a part of your religious group. People that were targeted first and foremost because they were an actual threat to Nazism and not just a convenient scapegoat.
You say that but then other them so nonchalantly that I don't even think you're aware how flippant your words are.
Read this again in the context that's its a near million people murdered for their political views.
You're misquoting someone just to have an axe to grind. Yikes.
I'm not. I'm quoting them exactly. And if that's not how they meant it, I'm sorry. But those were their words.
You absolutely are not quoting them correctly. There was nothing in their post to even so much as hint at any equivalency. Go read it; nothing more than a simple statement that others were also killed. That's it. You invented context that isn't there to justify putting words in their mouth.
Just thought you should know you're looking a bit silly tilting at them windmills, dude...
You read it, I'll quote it for you
How is that not asking for equivalency? Asking for the same reparations for a dramatically different cost of life.
Asking where's their memorial is, to you, the same as saying their deaths count the same?!?
Whatever. I'm truly bewildered by your ridiculous argument.
The fact is, you blatantly lied, several times now, about the post you replied to. Given your complete refusal to accept the facts of the situation, I'm clearly wasting my time. I'm leaving my replies up anyway, just to highlight the total insanity of your own comments.
Breathe, my dude. Just f***ing breathe. You're losing your shit it would seem...
Update: the original poster replied to be with the anti semitic dog whistle of the day. So I'm right. Maybe next time you'll believe someone when they call bullshit on discrimination.
Either way I'm about to hop into a plane to the Bahamas so I'm gonna go wash my brain of you people. Reply if you want, but I'm done.
If this is antisemitic to you, you're deep in zionist propaganda. The state of Isreal is not your religion. The state of Isreal is not your culture. Criticism of the state of Isreal is not antisemitic.
This is exactly why OP posted this.
I've still yet to lie. I've quoted the sentence in question. By the votes, it seems like I'm the one breathing here. In fact reducing their quote to a "memorial" is the biggest lie in this thread so far.
Maybe you should take your own advice, breathe my dude.
