This was pretty much inevitable since the news of the implosion came out. Who would trust them anymore? How would they survive the inevitable lawsuits?

Not to mention, they lost their CEO and only sub.

[–] assassinatedbyCIA 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

They do presumably have the cyclops and antipodes sub, but they can’t reach anywhere near the depths of the titanic.

[–] riodoro1 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Well, the titan wasn’t to great at it as well.

Yeah. You go from you’ll probably implode on the way down to you will definitely implode on the way down.

Maybe they can take musk, bezos and zucc for a quick last trip?

We still need starship to work. Give it 12 more months then do what you want.

[–] riodoro1 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I think starship will be fine without mister “I’m so rich I’m not paying taxes”. He’s a glorified idiot, not a rocket genius.

His wife stands to inherit everything from what I read. If that happens SpaceX could easily be sold off. Imagine Boeing being able to just buy and close down their prime rival in this sector.

Oh no, one corporation doing shit to another corporation.

Anyway…

[–] afraid_of_zombies2 1 points 1 year ago

At this point SpaceX is basically the space program for the US. The entire Artemis program depends on them, almost every government agency launch depends on them, and every rival they have is going to be pushed into the future because of them. If they go under we are back on ULA and you can kiss goodbye all of space science.

The situation is bad but once Starship launches and gets certified for humans I expect everyone else will have to adapt and they won't have a monopoly anymore.

They waited 8 hours before calling the Coast Guard. They knew the sub imploded but played dumb. The data recorder will be damning.

Yeah, this was news to nobody, they’re a dead company, we’re just waiting for the body to stop twitching.

They did lower wealth inequality in the world significantly. So it isn't all bad.

[–] afraid_of_zombies2 5 points 1 year ago

The greatest force for privatized wealth distribution in the US and now it is gone.
