https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2024-01-24/uaw-president-shawn-fain-battles-elon-musk-over-ev-labor-future

At the White House, Biden reminded Fain of his labor-friendly achievements to date and suggested he was doing his part to support autoworkers, according to people familiar with the meeting who spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to discuss it. They say that Fain told Biden, “We don’t agree,” and rattled off a series of issues where he said the president should do more. Biden would have to help, Fain told him, to make sure the next generation of auto jobs would be worth workers’ time. This isn’t how US labor leaders tend to behave. For a generation, they’ve mostly lined up behind Democratic nominees and taken what they could get. While both parties declined to recount the conversation in detail, the people familiar with the meeting say Biden, who frequently describes himself as America’s most pro-union commander in chief, seemed taken aback.

Tweet checks out. It took Shawn Fain being real with Biden for Biden to finally get a fucking reality check that he's fucking half-assing it. "Taken aback" in other words literally shocked because he's a fucking out of touch geezer. This is the same guy who made Student Loans not dis-chargeable in bankruptcy but wants us to pat him on the back for trying to dump some of that student debt instead of undoing what he did to begin with and making it so students can declare bankruptcy over student loans. Nah, he has to fucking half-ass it and is surprised when people tell him to his face it isn't enough.

Still gonna vote for his ancient ass though because Trump is even crazier, and is a full-throated authoritarian fascist compared to Biden's "I shake hands and make deals with fascists." Apparently I have to make this point in every comment where I have the audacity to critique the Democrats, and even then, I'll still be told I shouldn't be critiquing them and am probably a Russian plant. Sure, Jan.

Sadly, you have to make that comment at end because nuance is fucking dead and most numbskulls on the internet can't fathom the possibility of disagreeing with something that they're going to support.

Biden is garbage. But compared to Trump, he's a saint. Do I want Biden? No. But he will get my vote because we don't get to have good things here and so our options are limited to "shit or shinola."

Probably one of the best summations of the issue I've seen.

I can’t believe that 2024 turned into a rematch… as a European I am frankly disappointed that Haley probably isn’t winning the Republican nomination (chances are, if she was the nominee, she’d win, even if just cause of age)

I fucking hate polarized debate climates. Every issue has two and only two sides. One side is a force of evil that you must never ever agree with or accept anything they say. The other side is a force of good that you must never doubt.

It's not a "debate climate" it's reality. On January 20, absent an act of God, Joe Biden or Donald Trump is going to be POTUS. You might want to consider why Russian propagandists are pretending to be leftists spreading Democrat FUD on socials before you do their work for free.

Did you respond to the correct comment, friend? I can not connect your arguments to anything in mine.

It shows a lot of Democrats are just as fucking obsessive, stupid, and refuse to accept any critique of their side as Republicans.

I guess they don't want a thoughtful, engaged voting public. They want rubes who shut up and listen. They want us to be like Trump voters. What a joke.

I feel like people are constantly talking about this. If we could start doing something instead, maybe it wouldn't be an issue.
