I used RiF to keep an eye on what is happening around us. My wife is still on Reddit. I was born and raised in the deep south. In 2020, we realized it was time to leave and came up with a plan. We basically lost my extended family and most of our friends.

This is a safety issue for us. These people are dangerous. I need to be able to keep my finger on the pulse of what they're doing and saying.

We'll be moving summer of '24 and have been saving.

Are there any communities similar to /r/qanoncasulties, /r/qult_headquarters, /r/parler_watch?

I'm not great at Lemmy yet, and have tried searching but haven't found anything. My apologies if this breaks a politics rule, I'm not trying to debate or anything. Again, this is about the safety of my family.

I was also a follower of those subs so I'm hoping that other will chime in with their Lemmy equivalents.

I went ahead and put up https://lemmy.world/c/watchtheright - If you want to mod, let me know!

[–] gorillakitty 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Awesome! Subbed and posted.

[–] nonfatmatt 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Let me know if you want to mod!

[–] gorillakitty 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Sure, you're welcome to add me but I have no idea what I'm doing on lemmy and all my apps are going a bit haywire. If you have any tips or suggestions on how to access mod tools, that would help.

[–] nonfatmatt 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Eh, I have no idea either. It was weird even figuring out how to add mods in the first place (I think it needs a FAQ). I think it's just one of those things that you figure it out as you go.

[–] gorillakitty 7 points 1 year ago

Ok, fuck it, we'll do it live!

Awesome! I don't want to mod but will if I need to.

As I said, I'm mostly a lurker. However, given how small Lemmy still is, I'll make sure I contribute to help growth.

If I have to, I'll figure out how to make a community and mod the thing until someone better comes along to mod it. I'm very much a lurker and rarely post.

I'm hoping that there's already something out there.

What to call it? I have been wanting the same thing.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Honestly? I'd avoid the meme names. Meal Team 6, Y'allquadea, Gravy Seals, Infowarriors, Chair Force.

That shit was funnier in 2017 when it wasn't quite as dangerous. I don't have a creative suggestion, unfortunately. But I suppose that's my advice.

MAGAt Watch, Fascist Watch?

[–] nonfatmatt 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The only issue is all of these things change over time. Rightwatch? Watchtheright?

[–] Machinist 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

WatchtheRight works for me, I'm also partial to FascistWatch as that pretty well describes the whole range.

We can let it percolate a bit. I won't be setting anything up until tomorrow anyhow.

[–] nonfatmatt 5 points 1 year ago

I went ahead and registered https://lemmy.world/c/watchtheright - the only issue I have is that putting fascism in the name might turn off people who are just looking for information.

[–] nonfatmatt 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The other question is that if you want it only q adjacent or all right wing / cryptofascist.

[–] Machinist 14 points 1 year ago

I want to watch all the groups that have been threatening my people. I could give a shit less what their particular views are at this point. They have heads full of rot and words full of poison.

Hi - I'm writing to from across the Fediverse over on kbin.social, which has a slightly different interface, so this may or may not work on your Lemmy instance. While I haven't seen any dedicated communities yet, if you search for posts by tag (https://kbin.social/tag/[your tag here] ) it can pull up that kind of content across multiple Fediverse platforms and instances.

Some examples:

https://kbin.social/tag/qanon
https://kbin.social/tag/extremism
https://kbin.social/tag/FarRight
https://kbin.social/tag/parler

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

Scanning https://browse.feddit.de/, it doesn't look like there are. I didn't see anything in a quick search of kbin either. Maybe Mastodon has something like that?

One of the subreddits I miss the most was rusticgorrila's keeptrack.

I haven't found its alternative yet sadly.

It's not quite the same thing, but there is a podcast called QAnon Anonymous that might tie you over until a proper community is formed. It's hosted by three guys who delve into current events or specific conspiracy theories that QAnoners get up to. To be clear, they just explain the phenomena, they are not conspiracy theorists themselves.

This https://redditmigration.com/ seems to be a crosswalk for subreddits on Lemmy/kbin. I don't know if it's maintained, but you might find something to help.

I found that crosswalk here.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

There is also https://subs.rehab that I found useful in migrating over to Lemmy
