The moment you realise calves are better equipped for winter than you are.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 9 months ago (1 children)

My calves always get cold in the winter. But that's probably because I wear winter jorts

[–] somethingsnappy 3 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

I love my winter jorts. No problem with cold when your calves are big enough to create their own weather patterns.

cows are friends, not food.

[–] [email protected] 26 points 9 months ago (2 children)

In the very least, we should be ensuring that any animal bred for consumption should be given the absolute best life possible, not crammed into spaces like sardines and forced to exist in their own shit all their lives.

they taste better when they've had a happy life

[–] [email protected] -3 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (2 children)

So you must taste greeeeat despite all the antibiotics and microplastics in your body.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 9 months ago (2 children)

what? what are you trying to say here

[–] [email protected] 4 points 9 months ago (1 children)

They're asking for permission to commit some jolly cannibalism 🥰

[–] this_1_is_mine 2 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Must be one of them German cannibals...

[–] Cosmicomical 3 points 9 months ago (1 children)

They're trying to say this is a bs argument

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

but it is a true fact. theres a huge difference in quality between the basic slaughterhouse meat and full life lived running around and eating what they are supposed to eat meat

[–] Cosmicomical 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

For fks sake, the detachment from reality in this comment is astonishing. Would it be ok if I raised you as meat and then slaughtered you when you where 15 years old if I guarantee you that you would have a decent life in the meantime? Of course not, it would still be pretty fucked up.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

its not a detachment from reality its actually completely based in reality, the statement being nothing more than quality of taste and a true fact, again completely based in reality. we all get it you think eating animals is wrong but my comment is not meant as some sort of statement on anything more than quality of food

I have zero doubts that people would be delicious.

So what's stopping you

[–] [email protected] 6 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Problem is good life isn't economically sustainable.

[–] Cosmicomical 5 points 9 months ago (1 children)

That's what they are trying to make you believe. Good life is not sustainable, either for the cows or for you

[–] [email protected] -2 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Right right, as long as you don't have to do anything :)

[–] PixellatedDave 0 points 9 months ago

Nah I just don't touch animals or animal products as much as possible now. Easy

these appear to be veal crates, these are baby cows that have been taken from their mothers to feed the demand for cow's milk; a horrifically cruel practice. make 2024 the year you align your values with your purchases!

[–] [email protected] 31 points 9 months ago (1 children)

The pens on both of these (but especially the left) are far too large to be veal crates, which don’t allow calves to turn around.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 9 months ago

Or to stand up. It’s about restricting muscle use.

[–] aubertlone 6 points 9 months ago

Really wish people would stop spouting random bullshit.

This is so clearly not a veal crate. To be clear, I don't even eat any beef, pork, red meat in general.
