The version of this I liked was in one of the Privateer games from the 90s (I think?).
Kinda sucked for a bit for the the people that were frozen. But then they realized there was knowledge that was lost about brewing beer that they still had. So they started a successful brewery. So it all worked out well for everyone.
And then the perfect space society devolved from a beautiful Utopia into a violent hive of alcoholic degenerates? Personally I love alcohol, but I think that would be an entertaining twist.
