!nostupidquestions is a community dedicated to being helpful and answering each others' questions on various topics.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules (interactive)

Rule 1- All posts must be legitimate questions. All post titles must include a question.

All posts must be legitimate questions, and all post titles must include a question. Questions that are joke or trolling questions, memes, song lyrics as title, etc. are not allowed here. See Rule 6 for all exceptions.

Rule 2- Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material.

Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts and joke questions.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-question posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.

Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.

If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here.

… and here I am, actively blocking porn or porn-adjacent shit on Lemmy.

[–] Chriszz 15 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Am I the only one who has seen absolutely no porn on lemmy ever? I haven’t had to block any but I would if I saw it. Where are you guys seeing this?

[–] frosty99c 16 points 1 year ago (1 children)

When you signed up, did you select "Show NSFW content?"

[–] Chriszz 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That might be it. I can’t remember but it would explain why I don’t see any porn.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

It's just a checkbox in your account settings. Either that or lemmy.world defederated from the porn instance, but I doubt that

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I only ever see it on /c/all, and it's relatively little and it's all vanilla, single naked model, still photo shit. Basically as non-pornographic porn can get while still being porn (aka: OnlyFans ads and reposted Celeb shit).

I was here slightly before the exodus, and the most hilarious post-exodus post I saw was people saying "our lemmy porn is normalizing, we're finally becoming a place open for normies", where the OP was saying that the Furries were going away. The thing is: Furries were NEVER a sizable, noticeable presence on Lemmy to begin with. This isn't Blueskies, the community isn't suspiciously a bunch fo bara fur enjoyers. And they said that around the time Burggit opened up and being talked a bunch as the place to defederate, meaning degeneracy was going UP.

So basically, People who complain about Porn on Lemmy just confuse me. Tech, Sports and Politics shit are actual garbage that ACTUALLY floods the entire dashboard.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

No

Everyone complaining about porn on lemmy is lying, there's literally nothing here. they're just ultra-conservative right-wingers who hate sex

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago (2 children)

that's your choice, and that's entirely fine. but it's different when a platform deliberately makes it inaccessible.

It's actually the exact same thing. It's their choice.

Unless it's a government mandate I don't have a problem with platforms doing that.

[–] AA5B 2 points 1 year ago

I prefer platforms block porn, because a usable internet requires a basic level of organization so you can find what you want. Sometimes I’m not looking for porn

[–] metallic_substance 8 points 1 year ago

I like porn. I'm a fan. But I'm with you on that. If I want it, I know where to get it. It's not really why I'm here.

Also, it really ruins it for me that because it's all user -contributed, it feels like being recommended porn by a creepy, off-puttingly thirsty highschooler. Given the demographics in places like this, that may actually be somewhat close to reality

[–] Zippy 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I can understand why a person has no interest in it and I personally don't need to access it but I also don't really care if it available. I do not become offended if it is available.

In reality I am far more uncomfortable with violent content yet they seem to get far less attention then porn.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I mean, I block it as well, not because I'm a prude, but because I want to read stuff etc. without looking at naked bodies. When I want to get funky, I switch to my other account which is only subscribed to porn.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Been doing that since the bad place. It's a great system.

[–] who8mydamnoreos 5 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Same, Its not that i don’t like porn but i got tired of blocking every instance of furry porn; like how many do you need?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

There's only one instance dedicated to furry porn

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

They probably meant the other definition of instance. Although I don't know how many of those there are, haven't run into any of them myself. I've seen usernames from what must be the one you're referring to, but luckily haven't run into any content from it.

I'm constantly having to block porn shit on tumblr and all the stupid bots that come with it.
