If you're pounding back energy drinks on the regular, the type of sugar they use should be the least of your concerns.

This is a common joke but I genuinely tried to find a link between energy drinks and kidney stones on google scholar and could just go as far as soda and acidic drinks being maybe a little worse.

Kidney stones are definitely linked to dehydration and so are excess sugar and caffeine.

Honestly, I'd be more worried about the metabolic accelerant effects, as well as the dehydration and the gastrointestinal irritation (the laxative effect isn't because it's a good solvent:)) ).
