Is it better with tons of microplastics? Sweden banned artificial grass last year due to that. But we also have better water controls compared to the US west I guess...

It's simple: minimize the use of both. Do drought resistant landscaping and only use grass when there are no alternatives. Create more tree canopy or plant succulent gardens if you hate dirt.

The truth is, we will need to give up many staples of our modern lives eventually. We need to fundamentally restructure the economy and society to combat the mess industrialization has made. We can phase our unsustainable practices out, or nature will force us to give them up in a far less pleasant manner.
