I put together a repo with a load of different ADHD apps, podcasts, resources etc. and a few people have since added to the list. Hope you find them as useful as I do <3

Hello, everyone.

I started Strattera for ADHD in March this year. I changed my breakfast 4 or 5 times already since then, because I can't stand its flavour after some period of time. Sometimes because of that bitter feeling that atomoxetine causes, and sometimes because of breakfast doesn't taste good. Now I'm taking peanut butter jelly sandwiches, which hides that bitter taste of atomoxetine... but peanut butter gives me an awful taste and feeling afterwards, despite the fact that I like peanuts.

I'm tired of this, and I don't know what else I should do. I tried drinking orange juice, I tried drinking milk with biscuits, I tried cheese and ham sandwiches, and now this.

Does anyone suffer from the same thing?

UPDATE: Apparently there is something I missed when I read the instructions. Atomoxetine can cause dysgeusia between 1% and 10% of patients. I'm doomed.

Meds experiences (feddit.uk)

I started taking methylphenidate recently, but went through a stressful patch and suspect it contributed to a period of bad anxiety. That's mostly better now, and the doc prescribed me vyvanse (Elvanse here in UK) instead.

Pretty terrified it will trigger anxiety again so I've not touched it. Considering just taking the odd methylphenidate here and there as it doesn't last all day.

Anyone willing to share relevant experiences? Not looking to be told what to do, I will make my own decisions... 😉

Hey all! I’m a software developer that was diagnosed with ADHD a few months ago.

My productivity went to complete shit during Covid and hasn’t recovered. Part of the issue is that I’ve learned body doubling is one of the most effective ways for me to get stuff done. And, unfortunately for me, no one has wanted to come back into the office. I’ve tried setting reminders for myself to get routine-but-not-daily tasks done, but those only worked for a couple weeks. Pomodoro timers the same.

Anyone have any tips for being more productive at work? Ideally oriented toward software development, but I’ll take anything.

EVERY person who worked there acted like an asshole. There wasn't a single person working there who treated anyone like a normal fucking person. I was already nervous coming in but sitting next to 30 people while listening to an employee lecture a 16 year old girl to tears because she printed her birth certificate rather than bringing it from home was exhausting.

When they called me up, it was like the person behind the counter was looking for reasons to hate me. She asked for my thumb prints and said to align my thumbs. I did that making sure to be extra aligned, and she snapped and yelled "HOLD THE BOX". She gave me my permit which I signed, and I thought I had to give it back to her. She paused to make me look like an idiot and said "no sir... you keep this." It took all of my energy not to turn back around as I was leaving and lecture her back.

It sucks having ASD and strangers still find reasons to hate me. I know the dmv/dps is usually like this, but why? You would get fired at any other job. Why make someone else's life miserable if your own life is? She was such a bitch.

I get frequently asked. "Oh simple!", I reply, "In the morning, I first try to find my phone. When I eventually find it, I realise that I miss my glasses too." After I little probing break I continue, "When I do find them, half an hour later, I can only wonder where I have put my glasses this time."
At this juncture I may receive an understanding smile from my conversation partner, assuming to know the problem all to well. But also expecting, that my obvious exaggeration is my attempt on a joke. Sadly, it is not, but I do not correct, instead I continue, "There goes the first hour of the day, after that I would go shopping, if I could find my car keys that is, but alas, they are real good at hiding, and may well rob the next hour."
By now my opposite is convinced that I am joking and rewards me with the smile that comes with the relive provided by this discovery. To late for correcting now, and so I continue, "Not a problem, as I am much better off having breakfast first."
Should I stop here? or point out the small problem, that in order to make breakfast, I quite likely have to go shopping first. Nah, don't push it, rather bring the story to and end. Too often I miss the cue to stop in time, not today. "By the time I have all these little critters together it is time for lunch anyway. The afternoon I then try to spend just as productive." I conclude, this time indeed joking, even if only slightly, and join in the smile.
Since there was so little chance for understanding, we may as well have a some fun. Bittersweet.

ADHD and math (lemmy.one)

Did anyone else have a weird experience with math? I could always do it in my head, really fast, get the answer, it's correct... But then I couldn't show my work or prove it, meaning it was useless. I'm curious if this is an ADHD thing? If so, does anyone know why?

A couple of her comics have been posted here, but I think its important to link to the source as well 😀
I definitely found some of the metaphors helpful when trying to understand why some expectations and interactions frustrate me so much.

In reference to the awful /r/ADHD subreddit which is the most anti-ADHD place online I have ever seen I would like to know if this place will follow their horrible example or actually allow neurodivergent people with ADHD to consider it a home?

Based on this from the sidebar it seems positive and I look forward to interacting with you all.

Hey folks, so I recently got a job, which has been pretty great but very tiring. And I am finding it difficult to have that balance while also living with ADHD. I'm on meds, though might have to discuss with my psych on putting me on different meds but that's another story for another time.

I think I'm just also having trouble going from no work at all to instant full time work. Luckily my boss is letting me come in starting at 10:30am, but eventually it'll be a 9am gig and I also have delayed sleep phase cycle too. Any pointers, help, what have you would be awesome. If not, kind words are also appreciated.

Anyone can look at my youtube and know exactly what my current fixation is. It's also annoying and makes it really hard to pull myself out of it. It's like a hyperfixation amplifier.

I've been struggling recently with increasing side effects and reduced effectiveness with my Adderall treatment. For those of you on stimulants do the side effects even subside?

Also, how long did it take you to get to a dosage where you found the balance between tolerance and functionality
