Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

MODERATORS

It's been going downhill for a while but I feel it's gotten exponentially worse. Someone made a post under "insane facebook people" which had a picture of a sign on a hospital patient's door that said "please knock before entering I wear a veil". I said "you have to cover your face or Mohammed will smite you!" (which is literally the reason they do it) and the mod perma-banned me for violating a "rule". I called them a power hungry loser and said it was clearly a sarcastic comment...and they responded by calling me a Republican (which confuses the hell out of me) and blocked me from responding to them for 3 days.

Someone else posted in the New York City thread saying "inflation is out of control, this place wants $15 for a bacon, egg and cheese!" and everyone there was supporting the place that charged $15. Any comment OP made was immediately downvoted to hell, regardless of the content.

People were calling someone from a story posted a "pedophile" in another sub because they found an adult (18 years old) attractive. When someone else was like "umm a pedophile is someone that's attracted to pre-pubescent children..." everyone was just like "shut up pedo! You just want to fuck kids!".

Everyone seems to have a hair trigger, is insane, or loves to rage-bait/troll just for the fun of it.

Trolls reddit

Complains about trolls on reddit

Reddit has its own issues, but what you're describing is not a problem of reddit's, it's a problem with people. You're also not doing anything to help the problem.

Your post trashy but I'll pick what I believe to be worthy out of it.

Three side effects of Greedy Pigboy screwing with Reddit in July were

  1. mods are less emotionally attached to their communities; why bother contributing with a platform that mocks them as "landed gentry"?
  2. your typical mod is dumber than before - because a lot of the insightful mods were aware of what was happening, and jumped off the ship.
  3. there are overall less mods, so they all got more work to do.

Overburdened, dumb, uncaring, and able to tell you what you should [not] do? That's bound to create grievances.

Reddit always had a disgusting acceptance of witch hunting*, based on witch hunters having "good intentions". Usually you'd get decent mods kicking the witch hunters out... except that this means actually understanding what's going on, cue to the above (overburdened, dumb, uncaring mods) - it's easy to leave the witch hunter alone and just remove the comment chain.

Same deal with trolls. Sometimes you only get a troll by investigating and looking at the context. But if there's something that dumb trash cannot do, it is to look at the bloody context of an utterance. So trolls got free reign there.

*witch hunting: to accuse someone of belonging to a group of morally or ethically undesirable people, based on little to no evidence or reasoning. Just like in the Middle Ages: "I assume that you're a witch, then you're a witch lol, time to burn you lmao".

my guy you can't waltz into the hornet's nest with a baseball bat and then complain when you get stung.

the only winning move is not to play. just shut up, delete your reddit account and walk away.

After being on there pretty much every day for 5 years (boring job) it's a hard habit to break.

The pre-pubescent bit is something that comes from Paedophiles trying to defend themselves. The word means attracted to children, but some people claim because the root is greek and ancient greece you could work from puberty then the word children only referred to those before puberty. It's wrong, there's plenty of examples of 16 year olds being referred to as children in texts.

Even if it was true, we're not in ancient greece, people are considered children up to 18 or even 21 today.

It's not a way to defend themselves...it's literally the definition of pedophilia. People that are convicted of being pedophiles aren't people that are attracted to teenagers/young adults, they're attracted to literal children (those that are 10 years old or younger).

Calling a 17 year old "a child" has a much different connotation compared to calling a 7 year old "a child". It's like calling someone that just turned 65 a "senior citizen" even though they are as active as a 50 year old, vs calling a 90 year old a "senior citizen".

If you're 22 and you say you find a 17 year old attractive there are screams of "pedophile!" even though there's only a 5 year age difference. If she was 22 and you were 27 people wouldn't bat an eye. Don't even attempt to use the argument of "17 year olds aren't emotionally mature!" because (at least in the US) we hand them guns and tell them to fight in wars, and give them licenses to drive cars.

I have explained what the word means very clearly. and nobody is convicted of Paedophilia, it's not against the law to have an attraction in your head, it's the acts that are against the law.

The rest of your comment just seems to be justifying paedophilia.
