NEW YORK (AP) — Donald Trump’s lawyers were thwarted Thursday in their longshot bid to put an immediate end to the New York civil fraud trial that threatens the former president’s real estate empire.

FTA:

"In seeking to short-circuit the case, Trump lawyer Christopher Kise argued that state lawyers had failed to meet “any legal standard” to prove allegations of conspiracy, insurance fraud and falsifying business records.

“There’s no victim. There’s no complainant. There’s no injury. All of that is established now by the evidence,” Kise argued."

Lawyer missed the part where liability has already been decided. This is about damages, not guilt or innocence.

Did they forget about that part or ignored it intentionally and hoped the judge would forget?

They're not trying to win the case. They're painting a picture so that after, they can get all their supporters lathered up.

Trump, on the stand Monday between barbs for his adversaries, denied wrongdoing and said lenders were “extremely happy” doing business with him.

Really? Is that why all the US banks refused to do business with him anymore and he had to go to Deutsch Bank?

[Speaking of old Trump/bank news from years ago, I forget: was there ever any resolution to that whole Alfa Bank thing with the mysterious internet communications?]
