3 mobs in one update? Do we look like a bunch of unpaid modders who get their work broken after every game update because of our inability to develop a modding api.

How long has it been since they promised us an official modding api?

To be fair, I think the datapack/command features are being fleshed out instead of a modding API

[–] [email protected] 23 points 1 year ago

But the datapack feature is a pain in the ass if you want to do more than add funny new small feature. Overhauling entire gameplay systems, or adding new ones is really complicated and often not worth it when done through a datapack

To be fair? They're different features. Datapacks and commands can't replace a good modding API.

Just develop for 1.12.2, cant have your game broken if it doesnt update

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

1.16.5 is better imo, is a bit less out of date.

I guess both work

I stopped playing for a few years way back when, during that time they forced everyone to switch their accounts to Microsoft accounts. Next time I tried to play it wouldn't let me log in and wouldn't let me migrate my account either. I shit you not, it took Mojang support 6 fucking months to respond to my ticket with anything other than an automated message.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 1 year ago

Microsoft has been pretty terrible, but I love the game too much to give up on it. As a little consolation, the removal of the insecure mojang accounts leads to less black market account selling, which in turn means less hacking on large servers.

I'm still locked out, and can only log in and play with my paid account through unofficial clients. Support felt like being kicked in the nutte sac repeatedly. Thank you Microsoft, very cool

what do you mean that was a few years back

Except gnembon. Apparently he's been cranking out redstone improvements we've been waiting decades for! Autocrafter is truly amazing, and the bulb is no slouch either.

Getting the tick command from carpet into the base game is a big improvement, too.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

Now he just needs to push for moveable tile entities...

i still can't believe the sniffer only has 2 plants. i love the concept of the sniffer so much and the existing plants look nice, but really mojang? two plants? and they're both flowers?? what happened to that leaked one that went on walls???

i should probably also mention that chiseled bookshelves are considered containers and can't be pushed by pistons, so that door from the trailer is only remotely possible in bedrock edition.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

That leaked ivy(?) looked so cool! I wasn't expecting much with the plants and honestly only wanted the sniffer because it's adorable, but it was pretty disappointing to only get the torch flower and the pitcher plant(? I don't even remember lmao)

Or use an unofficial client to play the game without an account. Java MC will always have superior Modding support due to bigger community and the fact that Java is so easy to decompile and work with. Plus it's CPU agnostic only needing Java runtime on that platform, rather than to be fully recompiled.

[–] TimeNaan 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

With minetest you don't have to recompile anything, mods are not only supported but available to install directly from the main menu.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

You will if you want to run it on different CPU architectures, but Java apps can run on any platform with a Java runtime.

I also meant modding support in terms of people making mods for the game.

It run on linux without translation layers
