Imo, this is just Wall Street throwing Unity to the wolves for one last big cash out before they try to bleed money from the company until all that is left is a desiccated husk.

Any EA games that use Unity that I can download over and over?

[–] CriticalMiss 6 points 1 year ago

Sadly not, they use their proprietary engine

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 year ago

Can they charge for uninstalls too?

Isn't that the gamecube boot thingy

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

No, the GameCube boot thingy isn't charging developers for each individual install of their own game

Nintendo is watching this very closely I'm sure

What happened to Unity? Can anyone explain? I've been using Godot for two years, so I didn't notice any potential BS happening over there.

License changes that will charge developers based on how many installs their game has instead of how many units sold.

Wow that's bad. So the people who already made games with unity now have to pay extra? Insane

I’m not a lawyer but it seems legally dubious to make retroactive changes to a contract and to then try to get money from it.

I think so too.
