In human language it doesn't matter how words should be used, it matters how they are used.

Fascist could come from an etymology that literally meant cute, cuddly, lovely Teddy bears and it wouldn't matter, because it sure as fuck doesn't mean that today.

It's the same bullshit they pull as "The Party of Lincoln". Just because you share the same lineage as that party, doesn't mean you're still that party.

That's not even accurate - fasces (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fasces) were bundles of sticks with an axe in the middle, used as a symbol of power in Ancient Rome.
