So the employee was odious, refusing to participate in a parade with her union, and went on social media to harass others in doing the same- because the parade/protest was sponsored by planned parent hood against trump (edit, sorry for the typo)

She got fired for the harassment and is claiming religious discrimination.

So scummed up trump appointee of a judge ordered the lawyers to take “religious liberty training” training from the same people that are going after mefipristone.

  1. am I the only one wondering if this isn’t a money laundering scheme? Judge takes bribes, sends people for bullshit training, these people pay for it. Rinse, repeat.

  2. do they not see the irony of going on about religious liberty while actively imposing their religion on others?

No. No they do not.

How dare you persecute them with your recognition of their inconsistency.

[–] melisdrawing 2 points 1 year ago

Lovely turn of phrase.

[–] FuglyDuck 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I really wish they’d take some Imodium for that inconsistency… doctor told my mom she can take up to ten daily…. Might be enough…

I think this situation calls for a stool softener rather than an anti-diarrheal. They're too full of shit already.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

But but but that doesn’t account fit the fact that I am RIGHT and those “others” are WRONG!!!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Because they think they're right, others are wrong and that's how laws should work

The protest was against Trump, not sponsored by him, it was the 2017 Women's March.

[–] FuglyDuck 0 points 1 year ago

Thanks you, fixed the typo

The parade/protest was sponsored by Planned Parenthood.

[–] FuglyDuck 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Yeah, and it’s quite okay for he to not go. It was the other part that got “uncivil” and was the problem

(Edit:Sorry just saw the typo, it’s fixed)

Iirc there are a few Texan judges that are notoriously corrupt in how they judge patent troll lawsuits, so it wouldn't surprise me if this judge really was getting bribes

[–] Noodle07 1 points 1 year ago

Is that still happening??

Replace Christian with Muslim and see the hypocrisy.

Hey can atheists get in on this? I'd like some liberty from religion.

[–] [email protected] 23 points 1 year ago

When people say that you need to "respect religious liberty and diverse viewpoints in the workplace," what they mean is that they want you to tolerate their bigotry and continue to silently receive their abuse.

This is what happens when you make conservatives your leaders.

Fuckkkk thissssss.

“Companies and their lawyers should take findings of religious discrimination as seriously as discrimination based on race (or) sex,” Lucas said.

Yeah, totally makes sense to hold beliefs that are chosen at the same regard as things you're born with /s

This looks like if Stagecoach made an airplane

[–] [email protected] -3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It sounds like the judge is doing it because the lawyers failed to carry out the original order. Judges can be assholes if you defy them.

[–] betterdeadthanreddit 38 points 1 year ago (1 children)

A judge who orders anyone to attend a class held by the ADF ought to be removed from the bench. They're as interested in religious liberty as a shark is interested in veganism.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The way I read it is that he was pissed that they didn't carry out the original order by the court, so he was just shelling out a punishment that would get his point across.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it. 🤷

[–] betterdeadthanreddit 1 points 1 year ago

I think you're on to something with that, it's just not very judicially appropriate to have a temper tantrum in court and the choice of ADF specifically (since they're well-known for shenaniganery when it comes to social issues) is suspect. Maybe the judge wasn't aware of their history and chose them because the name sounded good but in a position where you're relied upon to use sound and reasonable decision-making skills, it is a problem.

Neither ignorance nor malice are acceptable from the bench and, after reading up on Judge Brantley Starr's biography, I'm leaning toward this being a case of his personal values being pushed on others.
