Stop taking selfies and drive your fucking car dipshits!

I don’t think it’s racist to not enjoy something you’re unfamiliar with. And I worry that labeling stuff that isn’t racism as racism waters down what racism actually is.

I didn’t really like the halftime show, but that’s because it’s not the kind of thing I usually listen to. I didn’t dislike it, it was just kind of…neutral to me. I’m guessing if I knew the tracks I would’ve enjoyed it more.

I did like the set design. It was pretty cool.

Had it been country music I would’ve actively disliked it.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 hours ago

I listen to that stuff and it was just okay. Better halftime shows and worse meh

[–] [email protected] 22 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

The difference is that you're not calling it "DEI", highlighting the fact that you just use that as a substitute for the n word, considering that all the performers were black and there was no diversity there.

I'm just going by what I'm reading online but to me it seems like a fair assumption that the people crying "DEI", and who didn't mind being in the same company as neo-nazis when it came to who they were supporting politically, are probably racist.

Yeah I also didn't care for it, but that's cause i don't listen to Kendrick Lamar and I find rap hard to enjoy if you're unfamiliar with the artist/lyrics (maybe it's just me or my hearing, but stadium/concert rap is impossible to decipher).

Looking around at opinions, a lot of people enjoyed it so seems like he was a good pick.

70% of NFL fans are white and 53% of players are black.

So the white fans want to watch black athletes but not have anything to do with black artists. They can probably block out that the players are mostly Black, Hispanic and mixed race because they have helmets on and are just jerseys to them.

[–] ajsg 1 points 1 hour ago

We all are mixed... we are all humans... we all are homo sapiens (modern humans) Race is a concept to divide and conquer by some humans

The underlying assumption here seems to be that white people don't listen to hip-hop, which I don't think is true at all. I think Superbowl audiences just span several generations and Kendrick, while pretty popular, isn't so famous to be known by a lot of old people. This has been an issue with Superbowl acts for a while now... there's not as much of a monoculture with pop music as there used to be, and so musicians aren't reaching the same status in pop culture as they used to.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 hour ago

Well I didn't want to type out more stats from where I found them but the bigger majority of the white breakdown was 55+, which probably does have a smaller group of hip-hop listeners than lower age groups.

I don't think we even wanna know. It's better to not get involved.

My husband happens to look like a MAGA person (bald with a goatee and sunglasses) but he is as liberal as they come. At least he doesn’t drive a truck, lol. And he wears rainbow shirts. Cause, you know, rainbow = gay DEI or something.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 8 hours ago

My wife apparently passes so these MAGA nuts at her work tell her all sorts of racist tea.

[–] jaybone 8 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah I really dislike how guys with wrap around sunglasses are painted as Maga. Some of us with bad eyes need that protection from glare :(

[–] [email protected] 3 points 5 hours ago

Right? I love wraparounds. I’ve started wearing an ally flag pin, maybe that will let me wear the wraparounds without being judged for them. 😅

[–] fox2263 19 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

They’re always in their car in their avatar. I bet a massive super pickup too

[–] [email protected] 11 points 10 hours ago

Usually because they're in the middle of a messy divorce, and "that bitch took everything." Never their fault of course.

[–] Siethron 4 points 7 hours ago

Look, just because I'm balding and wear wrap around glasses doesn't mean I'm conservative. I just don't like the sun shining into the side of my eyes when I'm heading north or south which are the directions I primarily travel in.

[–] AnUnusualRelic 2 points 7 hours ago

Only blind people didn't like the half time show?

[–] [email protected] 9 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

As someone who didn’t watch the Super Bowl, can anyone translate to regular people speak?

[–] Brunbrun6766 34 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

Black man do song and dance, white man angry

[–] [email protected] 7 points 10 hours ago (4 children)

Was it just a regular half time show with either rapping or RNB? -_-

[–] danc4498 9 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

There was also a Samuel L Jackson playing Uncle Sam. The maga crowd immediately hates that.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 6 hours ago

Specifically he played a caricature of racist white people. The racist white people didn't appreciate being mocked.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 10 hours ago

Not knowing anything about the performers, I found it boring. But it was totally inoffensive. Just black folks being on stage, front and center, celebrating their culture.

You know, a nightmare for racists.

[–] Thwompthwomp 5 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

I am totally out of the loop on the Kendrick/drake battle and don’t listen to them. But, without verging too far into me being exactly who this meme is about, compared to other half time shows it seemed smaller? Like there didn’t seem to really be any other guest artists and it felt like it was building to a big moment that just never really happened. That could have been the A Minor song, but I just didn’t get it. The audio mix on the broadcast didn’t help. The music seemed turned down very low. I was watching it the whole time thinking I feel like I’m missing something and this might be really cool. /shrug

[–] [email protected] 5 points 10 hours ago

I don’t know about a battle or a beef. Kendrick straight up demolished Drake, who is a pedophile.

I'm a bit OOTL here. Did Kendrick Lamar do something at the half time or are they actually upset because he's black.

[–] SamboT 3 points 7 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

Nothing happened. Kendrick played some music and people documented people's disapproval online, screenshotted them for a polarizing article about race.

Since ridiculous racist rhetoric exists SOMEWHERE on the internet, we will never know how the hatred is distributed over the usa population to accurately represent them because we are too dumb to question our newsfeeds. Instead we try to engage meaningfully with what we are fed.

[–] MothmanDelorian 27 points 11 hours ago

Both as his show was a celebration of black American culture to some extent. It was great.

[–] [email protected] 55 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago) (6 children)

Look at these delicious tears.

[–] Evotech 10 points 8 hours ago

The regime? Lol, these people still think they are the disenfranchised

[–] MothmanDelorian 19 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago) (5 children)

90% of that audience seemed to know when to scream "Mustard", "Certified Pedophile" and "A-Minor" during the show so I doubt 90% of us haven't heard the music.

Bragging about the "gains" in the male demographic where trump still lost by a 47% margin tells you everything about the GOP https://navigatorresearch.org/2024-post-election-survey-racial-analysis-of-2024-election-results/
