Dungeons & Dragons with some friends at home. We've ordered donuts and will have loaded potato wedges with ribbs I'm the evening after they defeat the dragon I've got in store for them.

RULES (updated 01/22/25)
- Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling. To be concise, disrespect is defined by escalation.
- Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible. You won't be punished for trying.
- Avoid controversial topics (politics or societal debates come to mind, though we are not saying not to talk about anything that resembles these). There's a guide in the protocol book offered as a mod model that can be used for that; it's vague until you realize it was made for things like the rule in question. At least four purple answers must apply to a "controversial" message for it to be allowed.
- Keep it clean and SFW: No illegal content or anything gross and inappropriate. A rule of thumb is if a recording of a conversation put on another platform would get someone a COPPA violation response, that exact exchange should be avoided when possible.
- No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc. The chart redirected to above applies to spam material as well, which is one of the reasons its wording is vague, as it applies to a few things. Again, a "spammy" message must be applicable to four purple answers before it's allowed.
- Respect privacy as well as truth: Don’t ask for or share any personal information or slander anyone. A rule of thumb is if something is enough info to go by that it "would be a copyright violation if the info was art" as another group put it, or that it alone can be used to narrow someone down to 150 physical humans (Dunbar's Number) or less, it's considered an excess breach of privacy. Slander is defined by intentional utilitarian misguidance at the expense (positive or negative) of a sentient entity. This often links back to or mixes with rule one, which implies, for example, that even something that is true can still amount to what slander is trying to achieve, and that will be looked down upon.

I just printed out the Basic Rules. I'm teaching my kids how to play for the first time.
I played the very first edition of D&D (the red one) when I was my son's current age, pretty neat.
Call them Dragon Ribs and pretend it’s from the dragon they just defeated. :)
Way too many lol. Meeting tomorrow afternoon to work on a plan for a public food forest, then maybe bike party if I have energy. Running a tree planting event at the park on Saturday, then getting together with friends to work together on repairing old worn out items to give them new life. Then Sunday a planning meeting for an event to educate people about native plants and then a Super Bowl party after that.
I used to be such a shut in, what happened to me?!
Wow, some commendable stuff there! Nice one!
Thanks it keeps me busy but it has been very rewarding so far.
No plans. Yesterday evening I went to a screening of several “fashion films”, which was fun, but now I’m trying to find energy to get up and get behind my laptop to work. I’ll probably need Saturday too to recharge. Long Covid sucks.
Going on a 2 nights hike and wild bivouac in the east of France. Good food and beer packed
New dry herb vaporizer arriving tomorrow, planning to share photos on [email protected]
Not exactly productive, but you asked :)
Attending and supporting North America's oldest annual folk music festival, as I've done for the last twenty-plus years.
Edit: I had to remove the direct hyperlink, as lemmy is doing some kind of format to it that keeps breaking the address but it's the University of Chicago Folk Festival.
I'm hopefully going to be installing a bird box in a tree at the end of our garden, if the weather stays dry.
I babysat my friends' four little boys. Well technically the baby went to bed before his parents left, but the other three were a wild ride. All six and under. We had a big dance party and they all wanted me to chase them and "get" them which I did, and the 2 year old had a meltdown when it was bedtime and I had to haul him kicking upstairs, but in minutes I had him laughing reading him a book and I somehow got them to sleep, little monkeys they are. So cute and so fun.
Apparently be sick. Trying to find food to keep down. The kitten understands something is wrong but she is a kitten so she's just been whining at me. We did get to the Asian supermarket before I felt absolutely horrible and got way more curries and one odd bottle of coconut water with chunks.
