I guess the point is a single act of defiance means nothing to the bulldozer known as the 24 hour news cycle which will bury it faster than any single person can rehash it. Also the reason schools can be shot up and we are talking about a trump tweet by the end of the week.

Honestly I think the Daily Show even mentioned Luigi in a joke just this week (and in a positive way, no less). Some of their writers get it, and I presume many Gen Z haven't forgotten in general.
