We ate 9 metrics tons of food, drank a bottle of beer and wine each and finally set off €300 worth of fireworks at midnight. I eventually went to bed, but then my parents woke me up to help extinguish the shed, as one of them had a severe lapse in judgement and placed the box full of detonated fireworks inside. We even left a box outside that kept on rekindling itself, no matter how many buckets of water we poured on it. That was also the first time the fire brigade ever paid a visit to my house. Thankfully, only a shelf of random items was totally destroyed. The firemen told us that we called them just in time, as the roof was about to burn to the ground.

I was playing video games with my little brother, until about 4 AM. Made no effort to keep track of time, although we were probably setting up a heist in GTA when midnight rolled around.
Sounds like time well spent
Honestly, New Year's day is the time to do things you enjoy. I went and hung out with horses and rode one around for a bit. There was like nobody out when I left my house. It was really nice, and even middle of the day traffic was minimal.
You'd be surprised how many people are out on new years day.
The restaurant I work at had over 100 reservations in the morning alone.

Who knows maybe your actually in a different dimension now. An almost exact copy of the old one just a slight change on fundamental laws in physics which were not aware of yet.
