Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed. Sources that have a Low or Very Low factual reporting rating or MBFC Credibility Rating may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF 10/19
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

Another option would have been to not invade at all, you asshole.
If he could still read he'd be very angry.
Most people didn't care about Russia and respected their sovereignty. Until they disrespected that of another country.
Medvedev and Obama eating some at Mac in 2010 was the peak of russian sovereignity and power, CMV.
You know, I still say it's incredibly depressing we didn't loan them a couple A10 warthogs to hit that convoy that was pushing to Kyiv.
I mean, seriously.
all those tanks.... all those fuel trucks and other supplies? all just lined up and stuck on a road? just waiting for an A10 driver to just... do their thing...
It was the one incredibly specific scenario where the A-10 would actually have been useful.
Unfortunately that's not necessarily true. The north of Ukraine at the time was covered by S-300 and/or S-400 AA systems deployed in russia. While these can be dealt with by F-35(As demonstrated by Israel), something as old and slow as A-10 wouldn't fare well. Which is one of the reasons why the US Air force is trying to retire them.
I think the UAF were already jury-rigging HARMs onto their aircraft by that time, but point taken.
I know, right?
I mean, tactically yes, it would have been more successful, but at the time he didn't want to expend the worldwide political cost because he wasn't completely off the rocker yet
“I should’ve…”
What a fuckup. They just gave him the keys to the country?
The people voted!
Ironically enough, Republicans used footage of Russians stuffing ballots as evidence of democrats stuffing ballots.
I've seen numerous people watching the stream live and I can't really comprehend that. Even fanboys should know at this point there won't be anything of value to hear. Safe scripted questions and non-answers repeating ad infinum is what every stream of his were and when shit actually happens it's rarely if ever announced beforehead, like the start of the war was, or mobilization, or almost anything. Even if your kid ended up on the frontline, his fate would be decided in the cabinets, not on the open air, and the only time he was close to actual communication is when Prigo went rogue, because Volodya needed to actually perform some damage control, and he did that with a lag when he was assured things are nearly settled. With prols - who cares? Years before and already a year+ after that these shows were a watermill hardly deviating from Tucker Carlson's interview and the only thing I do when I get caugh up in a room with these talks is look at his face for signs of make up\surgery and listen to his characteristical khe-khe coughing, wondering how much work they need to put THAT before people and cameras. Credit where the credit is due: he looks almost like a human, not aged an hour from his previous elections. People were joking about the fridge he sleeps in but he's really cared for by a little army of cosmetologists.
And, after remembering the Prigo guy, I recall his descendants in the media, military bloggers, sometimes coming directly from his media org, showed a lot of dissatisfaction with that show, more than usual. They are pocketed and allowed to say that and ironize at obvious bad takes, but that means they and their curators find that their target demographics - the most bloodfirsty and 'patriotic', who need to be spoken baldly with zero bs - lost connection to the government's agenda, frustrated by it, and still don't have a person to replace Evgeniy and somehow reignite them. Only in time of the riot he himself only once refered to 'gramps' who needs to leave, and now regular bloggers discuss what he said. It's not a lifechanger, but it shows some gradual exhaustion that too hopeful people like me can call a sign.
In other news, new year would bring a rare change in minimal price of booze. If anything, I feel upping the price of the most available and usual coping mechanism may have a bigger impact than whatever he could possibly say. And this small thing is rarely talked about in comparison, for, once again, they don't talk when they do real stuff.
