At a time in American history when the most influential leaders of the U.S. need to stand up loudly and clearly for the rule of law, democracy, and decency, they are leading the charge in the opposite direction.

It's as if corporations and government have been in bed with each other this whole time. I'm shocked, shocked i tell you!

[–] finitebanjo 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Maybe that wouldn't be the case if the people stopped voting for people like Donald Trump.

90% of Dem politicians are bought and paid for by corporations/oligarchs too. If you believe they're not, you're part of the problem.

The last time they had 60 votes they passed medicaid expansion and protections for preexisting conditions, if they had one more then they could have passed singlepayer but the then Independent 68 year old Lieberman voted against it alongside every single Republican.

Give Dems power and good things come. Give GOP power and the government serves only the rich.

"Spineless, greedy CEOs"

"stand up loudly and clearly for the rule of law, democracy, and decency."

Lol... Lmao even.

:/

Lmao even.

Careful, that's a pre-existing condition, and might lead to denial of care.

One must always take precaution when they lmao or ijbol. Rotflol-ing can also be dangerous unless of course you are on fire.

And don't roflcopter unless you have a permit. And a time machine.

Did you read the whole sentence?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 month ago

Yeah it reads as if they expect them to stand up, but instead licked boots for profit. I was "laughing" at that expectation considering who they are.

"The wolves should defend the sheep! Instead they feast, shocking!"

This shouldn’t be surprising to anyone.

[–] SlopppyEngineer 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The only surprise is how blatant it is now. Politicians and businesses used to at least pretend there was a separation but Trump tossed even that thin veil in the garbage bin.

I mean, not really, no. Citizens United was fourteen years ago. Reagan gutted corporate tax and regulation over four decades ago. Anti-Union politicians have been around for like a century. It was always really obvious.

The proper Biblical way to deal with CEOs is to chain them to a big boulder and throw them into the ocean.

Why do you think they all like yachts? They yearn for the Sea. In their hearts, they know it is where they belong.

You leave sailing vessels out of this now, ya hear?

[–] WoodScientist 1 points 1 month ago

I mean, others are free to enjoy them as well. It's just the case that CEOs' fascination with sail is part of a deep Freudian subconscious desire to become physically one with the ocean. Other people can enjoy sailing for other reasons.

Why not, more than half of americans already have.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago

Of course they do if they don't Trump well go after them and make life hell for them. Easier to bend and kiss his ring.
