A bless spell is a fantasy Cleric stable, so of course Shattered Pixel Dungeon's upcoming Cleric hero needs one.

This tier 2 talent/spell grants bonus accuracy, evasion, and shielding when the Cleric casts it on themselves. It's much more potent on allies though, granting a longer bless buff and healing instead of shielding! You can even use it to overheal frail allies like mirror images!

Look out for more posts soon, fingers crossed I'll be ready to release a beta on Wednesday or Thursday this coming week!

(Image Description: A short GIF demonstrating the bless spell. Two characters are fighting each other and it's unclear which will win. The Cleric uses the bless spell to turn the odds so that one of them wins easily.)

Will it also give you shielding if you are at full health?

[–] 00_Evan 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

You always get shielding if you cast it on yourself, in general I've been shying away from self-heal effects.

Ye but I meant for allies too (Also, it is true that you barely put self healing effects, hard to balance?)

Excess healing is converted into shielding. And yeah self-healing is really, really powerful but doesn't feel that way, so I've largely avoided it.

Nice! Good to know!

Self-healing defeats the purpose of the Pharmacophobia challenge.

[–] Vencedor 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Does it? It could be worked around that. It could heal less, be a naturally expensive effect or just disabling the healing altogether in Pharmacophobia.

[–] chonglibloodsport 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That’s a bit hard to justify in terms of game text though. Pharmacophobia is an allergy to healing potions and their derivatives. It doesn’t stop other methods of self healing, such as Monk’s meditate.

Just make the healing effect a derivative of the same allergy

We’re talking about divine power here.

[–] Vencedor 1 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

The divine power summons the same compound. We're talking about magic, we can make up literally anything, there are infinite explanations for this, if that's what you need.

[–] chonglibloodsport 1 points 20 hours ago

That’s just silly. Why would your god heal you with something you’re allergic to?

Seems like a pretty good spell for 9 challenge!

Finally, Energized Renewal.
