Wiping their tears with all that AIPAC lobbying money they got to legitimise and enable genocide.

One day America might get a left wing party to represent the people and not the elites. But it will only come from the ashes of the Dems.

Left wing, right wing, the people, the elites - forget all that.

There's only taking responsibility and giving it to someone else.

Where are all the passionate leftist politicians.

"We will fix the roads"

"We will find public services better like the police, fire departments and medicare so you never have to worry if help is coming in your hour of need"

"We will ensure everyone has access to healthcare whether rich or poor, insured or not so you never need to worry about losing your job and your health cover at the same time."

"We will invest in public transport to better connect our rural communities to make it easier to get well paying jobs even if you don't live in metropolis"

"we will invest in green energy and transport and retrain workers from the fossil fuel industry to improve the quality of the air you breathe, without putting coal and oil workers out in the cold“

"We will pay for this by taxing corporations who have for too long got away with paying lower tax rates than you, all while making record profits and creating billionaires like Bezos and Musk who use their immense power to convince you that what is good for you is actually bad for you."

In most of Europe this isn't leftist policy, it's common sense centrist policy.

Which makes the entire situation so laughably ridiculous.

The left of America have only been fighting for what the rest of the developed world has had for generations, but America's such a heavily indoctrinated hyper-capitalist plutocratic dystopia that they have been labelled "radical" and the best concession the plutocracy could offer is a turd like the ACA. Like, obviously the left have rejected the Dems Neoliberalism, and want the entire system burned to the ground. They already considered democracy to be a charade, and now the Democrats will be forced to accept that fact too.

Where are all the passionate leftist politicians.

Systematically removed from office and primaried from power anywhere and everywhere they appear.

Bernie is an Independent and as a senator is mostly the exception to this rule. The remaining progressive House members are isolated and picked off in primaries each cycle.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 weeks ago

I'd vote for you if even one of these getss worked on. We

[–] fluxion 7 points 2 weeks ago

Maybe Bernie has some ideas on who and what policies we should rally around. He's already torching the dems for this and as far as I'm concerned he is the only one that can take on a leading role at this point. Literally every single establishment Democrat participated and failed in this and it's clear a new progressive push is needed.

MAGA didn't win tugging our sleeves slightly toward the right. It's time to acknowledge reality finally.

I think a big reason why people were not excited to vote for Harris is because she really doesn't have any unique policies other than a general handwave in the direction of Joe Biden.

I'm not saying she's bad by any means, and she's definitely a lot better than Trump, but elections in the US are won and lost almost entirely on turnout rather than the quality of the candidate's proposed agenda. And people really just weren't interested in waiting in line to vote for a candidate who promises only good vibes, while being bombarded with attack adverts reminding them that a dozen eggs now costs a dollar more than it did last year.

[–] seaQueue 12 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Harris's platform was literally "we'll keep doing the same things that haven't been working for the bottom 85% for 30y" and people are shocked she didn't win the election. This was a referendum on neoliberal business as usual and they lost, hard.

Will they learn from this or accept any responsibility or change their platform for the next race? Find out over the next couple of weeks as they scramble to find a scapegoat to blame instead of actually thinking about policies that would help the vast majority of the public.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

This was a referendum on neoliberal business as usual and they lost, hard.

You would have thought people in this country would have learned that in 2016 when Trump ran against NAFTA and with a populist message that, yes, used immigrants as a scapegoat.

But the neoliberal elite of the party continue to show nothing but disdain for populism, evidenced by how they treated Bernie and choosing candidates who literally run on nothing "fundamentally" changing.

[–] seaQueue 5 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, this is exactly what I'm saying. You don't win a fucking popularity contest by choosing to ignore 80% of voters or tell them that "we wouldn't do anything differently" after 50y of wage stagnation during a housing crisis.

[–] Brkdncr 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Ignorance. The policies addressing housing alone was a huge amount of work fixing different parts of the problem from start to finish.

Trumps plan was a simple handwave at deregulation.

[–] NateNate60 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Trump had a whole book of detailed plans for what he wanted to do after he got into office. His entire agenda from day 1 to day infinity has been planned out by the Heritage Foundation. You may have heard of this project. It is supposed to take effect in 2025.

I don't think they are good plans, and you probably don't either, but they certainly were one of the plans of all time.

Harris has no clear agenda. Compare her to someone like Bernie Sanders who loudly proclaims his entire playbook on social media every morning. Sanders makes it clear about what he'd do if he was in change. The difference is pretty obvious.

[–] fluxion 2 points 2 weeks ago

Trump denied the plans so I don't think that worked to his effect.

The messaging just isn't getting through to the right people. Maybe there just wasn't enough time to get it out.

But the messaging itself needs work. We see tax breaks for new homes buyers, new small business, tips... that still leaves everyone that's not in these categories.

Trump roles in... finds out whatever local issue everyone is riled up about, blames it on the dems, game. Set. Match.

We should do the same, but with actual solutions, while blaming the right people (yea, even if those people happen to be corporations). Like inflation... where was the messaging about greedflation? How corporations were fleecing their pockets? It's even got a catchy buzzword.

It's not clear we will even get another genuine shot at this, but we need an iron tight strategy if there's gonna be any hope.

[–] kreskin 9 points 2 weeks ago

Well, at least Harris didnt have to give the AIPAC bribe money back, and thats all that matters at the end of the day to the DNC.

Had Trump won in 2020, he’d have taken the fall for the Recession and Hyperinflation and it would have caused a 2008 effect. Populist Wave haulted, strangled in it’s crib by Coronachan.

Had Trump won in 2020, he’d be done now and his VP would still be the democracy respecting Pence.

Trump when elected in 2016 had no major plan and mostly left the employees of the state intact, and in 2020 the change was minimal. Now there’s a full blown scheme to control the government

In 2020 they didn’t know how much they could get away with. They’ve seen the limits now.

Winning in 2020 means no January 6th shattering the overton window and leading SCOTUS to some interesting choices about power.

2020-2024 had one Supreme Court Justice to appoint. Now there’s another 2 if not 3

In 2020 it would have been close. Now Democrats will have to regain ground, New Jersey New Hampshire and Minnesota are now Swing States.

2016 Trump had his populist wave weakened by Gary Johnson and Evan McMulin who blocked the popular vote and kept states like Colorado and New Mexico out of his hands. 2016 Trump sucked with Hispanics. That initial wave would have burnt out with the COVID fuckery. Instead Democrats slotted in, took the 4 worst possible years, and are handing it back having effectively both given them another shot in the arm and crippled themselves. There goes the court. This isn’t John Kerry, it’s Carter.

I’ve heard of 2020 hindsight, but this is ridiculous

Silly us, we thought we escaped the Darkest Timeline.

The worthless scribblers of the corporate media also share the blame for all the "both sides" & sanewashing which got us here.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Corporate media aren’t worthless to their owners. They’re reporting exactly how the capitalist class wants them to. They don’t want you to develop real media literacy.
