This should not have been a surprise in the wake of Kevin Hart being cast as Roland. In what world did that make sense?

Also what's her face as Lillith.
Never forget good ol' Watser Face. May her memory survive a thousand lifetimes.
Had she not been Galadriel, maybe it would have worked. I canβt look at that face and not feel it in the water. Or feel it in the earth. Or smell it in the air.

And to think Borderlands is a series known for its very witty and not at all embarrassingly unfunny writing
I'll have you know butt stallion is very sad you didn't enjoy the joke
Yea but the pretzels were dry, this has to account for butt stallions sadness at least a bit.
BL1's writing was serviceable, and decent enough for a new IP and game.
BL2's writing was genuinely good, self aware enough to be funny and still had emotional moments.
Its the team that has handled the series ever since the Pre Sequel that dropped the ball, hard.
I never got around to playing the Pre Sequel, but do want to point out that it had the same lead writer as Borderlands 2 (Anthony Burch, of Hey Ash, Whatcha Playin' fame).
I think it's also possible that the series' shtick was growing old by the third game.
BL1 writing was perfect for the time. The thing that made Borderlands was the 4 player online co-op. Internet culture was full of over the top edgy humor during that era. The writing fit the time.
I remember when Baron Flynn's intro was just him smoking a joint. Everyone burst out laughing.
Tales from the Borderlands was amazing though and apparently this movie was an attempt to capture that.
Not going to lie, I still plan on going to see it. Borderlands 2 is in no small part responsible for me and my partner being together and it holds a special place in my heart. If it's bad, I'm sure we'll have a laugh at how bad it is, and if it's good, we'll have a laugh at how good it is. Fun time either way I figure.
As a fellow BL2 diehard, I knew it was going to be bad the moment they cast Kevin Hart as Roland. I'll just wait for a torrent and laugh at yet another video game movie flop
That's a good reason. Have fun!
Hell yeah. You'll experience in a way that's unique, so don't let other people tell you what to feel. It's ok to like stuff that everyone else doesn't like, for no reason other than you want to like it.
Oh for sure. I tend to like plenty of things that people don't generally like.
It did this production no favors for it's released to be scheduled so soon AFTER the second best television video game adaptation in FALLOUT, the comparisons will be merciless and brutal
Now I'm curious, what's your first best television video game adaptation? (My guess is Castlevania, but also I can't really think of any others right now.)
Arcane (also starring the fabulous Ella Purnell)
Anything made from that IP is going to look like Shakespeare compared to the original.
Oh cool, I'll have to check it out.
Arcane is perfection... Ignore the base material. Just enjoy the show
I recommend that to any of my friends regardless of whether they played the game or not. Probably better if they didn't or at least don't anymore though, so I can remain friends with them.
Yea it looks tone deaf to what the original was. Stop casting Kevin hartd in things. It's like that south park rob shnieder joke.
I think he's having a midlife crisis and just wants to be cool.
It was obvious this was gonna be dog shot. Honestly I think borderlands has run its course in general. BL3 was completely forgettable and the writing sucked.
BL3 made me feel as an unpaid intern doing errands for Lilith. Do this, do that, go there. It was incredibly boring.
How anyone could have seen the first trailer and thought it would have been anything but absolute drek is beyond me.
Borderlands is media that works as a video game because you are a willing participant in the idiocy. Its brand of idiocy is too idiotic be enjoyable if you're not a part of it.
