Soooo the investigation is still ongoing…but we will punish you anyway. Zero tolarance but still investigating…. Sounds very one way to me

Guilty until proven innocent. The Netherlands should not broadcast this program until the police has finished their investigation unless Europapa is included.

Interesting point. Do we know what the statement from the Dutch broadcasting agency is with regards to this?

They said the EBUs reaction was disproportional but not much else

Well as an event organizer they have a legal obligation to protect their production crew. I can completely understand the need to remove him from the premises if there is fear of him repeating his alleged behaviour to the crew.

Also to me it sounds like the EBU has concluded its internal investigation, it's the police investigation that's ongoing.

Honestly, the whole way EBU handled this all is just a mess. Being completely intransparent while allowing tons of different rumors to emerge, delaying a countdown that implies a statement "for two hours" and then longer indefinitely, and now still not openly sharing the facts and just talking about inappropriate behaviour. I don't think you can reasonably condemn or support Joost just because we really don't know what happened or even if he did something (innocent until proven guilty I guess).
I know that in an ongoing investigation you can't directly share everything you know and that you might want to take some time to research without it going public, but they still could have dealt with this better… either just letting him perform in the rehearsal to prevent it from going public and rumors spreading or sharing more about what they know and announcing when they will make an official statement.

It's as you say, they can't really comment on what happened because there's an investigation going on. Based on the outcome of that, I think it would be time to support or condemn Joost.

And those rumours would happen anyway. Clickbait drama outlets gonna be clickbait drama outlets.

I'm just… so sorry for him. I'd be sorry for basically any artist I think, but I think most for him. Because the song is so personal and a tribute to his father, and that he's so proud to have made it on the Eurovision stage for them… This is just really tragic. :(

Rumors that some artists are not appearing rehearsals.

I have made a separate post about that and Bambi's talks with EBU regarding Kan commentary, right now

More about Bambie missing their rehearsal

Ireland's Bambie Thug misses dress rehearsal Ireland’s Eurovision Song Contest entry Bambie Thug said they missed their dress rehearsal following a “situation” which required “urgent attention” from the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

On their Instagram story, they wrote: “Dear Coven, There was a situation while we were waiting to go to stage for the flag parade rehearsal which I felt needed urgent attention from the EBU – the EBU have taken this matter seriously and we have been in a discussion about what action needs to be taken. This means I have missed my dress rehearsal – I am really sorry to the fans that have come to see me. I hope to see you on the stage tonight.”,

Following Bambie Thug withdrawing from the dress rehearsals, the organisers of Eurovision confirmed they are looking into what the Irish contestant called an “urgent situation”. A statement from the European Broadcasting Union said: “We are just looking into it.”

Dutch broadcaster Avrtotros called Klein's exclusion "disproportionate".

New statement by Avrtotros:

(released at 17.30 on their instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/C61VHqdIlb6/)

This is the first time ever a contestant gets suspended mid-competition :/
And even one of the favourites…

Still no answer what the "inappropriate behaviour" was exactly.. but maybe that's actually fine to keep private

[–] [email protected] 7 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

If he actually did something wrong, it's understandable, but currently, we don't know. Investigation is still ongoing. Guilty until proven innocent?

The EBU's response being only this is pretty dumb too. Makes it ripe for rumours gaining traction.

Edit: statement released by AVROTROS. That's it?! That's enough for disqualification?

So, it was Joost issuing threats against production staff.

I heard a rumor that he had a big suprise planned for the background graphics yesterday but was denied changing it this close to the finals.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 5 months ago (3 children)

Swedish police have investigated a complaint made by a female member of the production crew after an incident following his performance in Thursday night’s Semi Final. While the legal process takes its course, it would not be appropriate for him to continue in the Contest.

We don't know what's happened other than something involving the performer is being investigated. I can sort of understand the EBU decision to remove him given this.

It's just very convenient that he's not able to participate in the final given the Israeli controversy. What a coincidence, right?

[–] [email protected] 12 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Sometimes coincidences simply happen lol

[–] spamfajitas 9 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Best recent example of a coincidence surrounded by shady events: the emergency slide of a Boeing plane falling off and landing near the house of a lawyer currently suing Boeing.

[–] KnitWit 2 points 5 months ago

If they hadn’t cut so many corners, they probably could have made the slide land right on the house. Shortsighted as always.

I eagerly await the Eurovision 2024 chapter in Ronen Bergman’s next book about Mossad covert ops.

[–] SteefLem 4 points 5 months ago

Hmm is it important that it was a female?? Not just e member of..? Or is it the spin so ppl will think things?
