The company has previously been accused of a “shoot the messenger” strategy in which workers were punished for raising safety concerns.

Both literally and figuratively

If you work at the FAA circle the block when you arrive and leave work to see if someone follows you.

i mean, it's just a few peasants' lives. who cares? what's important is that shareholders and the rich can afford their third summer mansion and support yatchs.

I mean, most people won't die, so that's okay, right?

They should relocate their headquarters again, just too close to the factory still

I've seen what plane tickets costs. Peasants are taking the bus.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You underestimate how expensive public transit is currently, at least in the US and Canada

[–] UnderpantsWeevil 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Compare cost-per-passenger-mile between Amtrak or the NYC Metro and SUV traffic on I-10 or I-35.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I don't see what that has to do with plane flights

[–] UnderpantsWeevil 1 points 1 month ago

Meant to be "bus traffic". Autocorrect got me.

Plane travel just gets more expensive from there.

Starting to sound like my cousins relationships. How many red flags does one need?

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 month ago

Well, if they're your cousin, I suppose just the one.

Those astronaunts that are supposed to go up with a Boeing launch must be having severe anxiety by now.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Launch was scrubbed. Again. This time two hours before launch. Privatization of space travel is working out of so well.

Stock prices have never been higher. Rockets are a secondary concern.

[–] [email protected] 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Whole different division of Boeing. With the same level of NASA collaboration going on as SpaceX had for the crewed version of Dragon.

The main explody part is an Atlas V rocket built by ULA. Same rocket that did all these launches: https://www.ulalaunch.com/missions/-in-category/categories/rocket/atlas-5

[–] halcyoncmdr 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

ULA is a partnership between Lockheed and Boeing. It's still a Boeing rocket. And that rocket had a problem scrubbing the launch.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

ULA is a whole separate entity though. It's not part of Boeing or Lockheed directly. And even then it's main engineering teams are former Lockheed and Rockwell people. There is very little about ULA that's truly Boeing. And Atlas V is based off Atlas III which Lockheed made on their own before ULA became a thing in 2006.

"As you all know, we have zero tolerance for not following processes designed to ensure quality and safety."

One person is sacrificed each time word gets out about safety or quality issues.

BOEING KILLED JOHN BARNETT AND JOSHUA DEAN

[–] Brunbrun6766 12 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

I too think there's fishy shit going on with John Barnett.

But Joshua Dean tested positive for Influenza A and MRSA. He died of pneumonia brought on by these. In his case he just happens to be a whistle blower who tragically died of illness at a weird time.

Edit: He was young

He was 45, not particularly young

His family said he was always healthy and never had been to the hospital before

Healthy people die of infections too. That's why everyone should take any medical issue seriously no matter how trivial or common it is. Also, just because his family SAYS he was always healthy, never sick doesn't mean much, men hide that shit all the time, and "tough it out"

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 month ago

A few more people have stepped forward recently. That list is about to get bigger.

All airlines should suspend their Boeing fleet at this point; and if not, government should step in and force them to.

[–] raspberriesareyummy 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That'd cost them profits...

[–] ripcord 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That'd cause them all to probably go out of business.

[–] raspberriesareyummy 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

not necessarily - but yes, depending on how many Boeing planes are in their fleets. Typical airline CEO reaction: "So let's risk (not our) lives."

[–] ripcord 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Most US airlines have mostly Boeing planes.

Yes, they would mostly go out of business and rbe economy overall would be crippled, would likely be much worse then 2008.

[–] raspberriesareyummy 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Not necessarily a bad thing, considering climate change will kill hundreds of millions and air travel is a major factor.

[–] toiletobserver 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

But look how high the stock price still is!

Because everyone knows this dumpster fire of a company will eventually be bailed out by the good taxpayers of this country. Pathetic leadership at all levels.

[–] NegativeInf 18 points 1 month ago

The only bail out it should get is being turned into 5 different companies headed by actual engineers. Fuck these white collar criminals inserting themselves into companies and then destroying perfectly functional systems and products for the sake of additional profit. But there is no incentive to innovate without competition.

And as a second option? Cool. Boeing, it's been great but all admin is fired and you are rolled into NASA. K thanks.

[–] arin 7 points 1 month ago

Oh no, what? Who's gonna get suicided next?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 month ago

Remember friends, it is not about reaching your destination --clearly-- but of the 787 or so Safety Inspections you didn’t make, along the way.
