When you become middle aged, not only do you feel silly for taking a selfie, you feel silly about all those people who are going to look at your awkward ass photo and be like “this dude looks awkward” and, so, with your head filled to the brim with these apparitions of doubt, you fulfill the ancient prophecy

Its a loop
A Middleaged man is like 38, so a Millennial? This looks more like a typical Boomer selfie.
I always thought "middle aged" referred to someone in their 50s. I get that the average person doesn't live to 100, but I thought that was the connotation that the phrase has.
Is the average life expectancy really 76? That's lower than I expected
I know I and most people I know won't last until 70.
3 packs of cigarettes a day'll do that to you
Just general unhealthy lifestyle is enough, but cigarettes could contribute.
Depending on where you live. And it usually higher once you make it to adulthood.
I just checked, in the US it is 73 years, Europe it's 77. I just eyeballed it, but yeah, I'm almost a middleaged man now. Crazy.
You’re middle aged when your growth hormones still exist, but the levels are starting to drop. You know you’re middle-aged when you twist your ankle and it doesn’t heal for a really long time.
When you start getting the injuries that don’t heal, that’s when you know.
It’s not a numerical thing. It’s a phase of human life. As we extend lifespan with new medical technologies, the stages won’t stretch out to fill the lifespan; we’ll add new phases at the end.
Those phases will be very strange, because they will involve drastic steps to maintain cognitive function in an aging brain. It could involve increasing top-down control of biology, or it would involve replacement of biology with machinery. Either way the new later stages of life will be stranger and stranger, and will feel different than any human experience does now.
“Welp, time ta git meh tell-o-mearz screwed back own.”
Don't mind me at age 25 finding out my body makes an incredibly tiny amount of testosterone.
I refuse to accept your criteria!
you forgot the car seat background and the 90s shades
nah that's a chud
My brother took his dog out of town and now I can't pet him :(
Poor brother :(
Ah, the classic dog-brother Lemmaroo!
OK, how Lemmy comment links work might make this chain harder to follow.
Yeah, right. I wish I still had that much hair.
We should be doing Myspace poses. With the duck face
But he's not in a car wearing speed dealer sunnies...?
Better than an anime pic tbh..
I’ll take an anime picture over a V avatar douche.
Good for you then..
Kinda
I feel targeted by this. But yes.
