This is the opening song for those who haven't seen it. And it only gets worse from there. Definitely worth a watch if you like a good bad movie.

Wow, how many awful stereotypes can you get in one bad rap?

John Leguizamo is actually a really big anti-rascism advocate and has been for a while.

This film was hilarious when I watched this as a pre teen. Noise noise noise am like a booger I stick to this. Take a whiff of this. One stinky winky 2 stinky winky.

I still sing this bit when am having a silly moment.

I'm having flashbacks to hanging out with my friends as small children screaming "ONE STINKY DINKY AH AH AH"

That bullet is still in the casing but has motion lines. I guess it's being thrown at him?

Except that it is not? The line in the middle of the bullet is where the case would start. The case would be bigger than the bullet and have a groove at the end to insert and eject the case in the gun/ magazine.

The small circle on the back looks like a primer so I get the confusion

And media often makes the confusion of showing the whole cartridge being projected.

That was my biggest thought about the intro sequence to Lord of War, too.

That's 70% more bullet. Hard to argue with the math.

This was the same year apparently. Dudes had an interesting career...

One of my favorite terrible movies! 4% is pretty harsh, though… I thought John Leguizamo was genuinely funny in many parts, even if the movie was painfully juvenile and hasn’t necessarily aged well… 😬

[–] Taniwha420 5 points 8 months ago (1 children)

My brother and I certainly thought it was hilarious at the time. I believe 4% is pretty harsh too. Is it because it's mocking all these racial stereotypes? John Leguizamo's energy in this movie is so manic.

[–] fjordbasa 4 points 8 months ago

Could be. I don’t want to read the reviews and cloud my memories 🤣. I never felt like he was punching down, the stereotypes were so broad, and Pest was an idiot for the most part. I could be rationalizing from my naive teenage memories though…

67% audience rating though.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I would assume it’s because few were rating it when they left the theater and the critic reviews are archival

Most likely that the people who watched since Rotten Tomatoes was a thing knew what they were getting into or had fond memories from when they were younger.

Would have been different for exit audiences for sure.

There’s a split second where you can see his pee pee in the shower scene.

When I was a kid I rewound the VHS to make sure it was what I thought it was. I saw it again years later and it looked more like bubbles but who knows.

It's always fun to look back at now established actors and see the movies they started in vs the movies they're in now.

Never would've thought Van Wilder would be in superhero movies.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 8 months ago

didn't guess 'superhero' genre specifically, but i knew first time i saw reynolds on tv in the early-ish 90s that he'd be a huge star.
