This is why if you don't eat fish, you have to take Omega-3 supplements.

Omega 3 fats are polyunsaturated fats. The fats being talked about in the article are saturated fats which are a completely different class of fats. That said, omega 3 fats are essential fats as the body can not produce them on its own but the quality of evidence for a link between omega 3 intake and brain health and other broad metrics in adults is poor. Omega 3 fats are thought to be much more important during childhood/adolescence.
