Climate awareness and this kind of depression posting are two different things. This post only serves to make people upset, but provides no useful information.
Yeah, shit sucks. Thanks for reminding me I guess.

Some people arguably need to be shocked like this before they become aware in the first place.
I would like to see a situation where that has actually worked. But my earlier point that this post doesn’t add anything to the discussion or lead you to a place where you can learn more or give advice on what you can do makes useless. it just fear mongering and depression baiting.
Bro it's a meme post on a meme page. It ain't that serious.
No it's absolutely that serious, pushing climate despair is the current number one tactic of oil billionaires.
So, meme aside-
I'm an environmental scientist for a state level regulatory agency. The current state of the climate is so much worse than most people are willing to accept, and there's really no undoing it. We're into symptom mitigation strategies at this point. You can call me a paid shill or whatever, if you'd like.
There's a difference between acknowledging the problem and going around telling people that the problem is hopeless and we're all doomed. I certainly didn't find it especially informative.
Then we circle back to "It's just a meme, bro 😎👉👉"
That's why I moved to where it's regularly 10-15 degrees cooler than I like. And I'm buying more land further north from there. Gotta lead it.
That was my plan... it was 95°F yesterday in Minneapolis. :( Where do I have to go, Siberia?!
To a coast. For example Ashland was 75 today, on the lake. Eureka CA had a high of 60, which is in my neck of the woods, my high today was 57.
Not too close to the coast mind you...
Good point.
You realize that corporations are smoothly pivoting from promoting climate denial to promoting climate despair, right? They want you to think that it's hopeless and that there's no point in trying, but we actually still have a chance to prevent the worst climate change outcomes. Please stop spreading this shit.
It's winter here and it got to 23°C :(

Fuck
True, but on the upside VR is maturing and hopefully will allow for near complete escapism for long periods of time. Also, some of us didn’t have kids so I guess that’s kind of cool.
False! My frozen tundra will turn into new Florida swampland with my own meth gators.
Unless we get fusion and/or general AI... Yup.
Under the current / capitalist mode of production, probably especially if, tbh
I wouldn't put it past this timeline, that's for sure
I promise you we don't need fusion just to survive, we just need better policies. Please don't give up.
The problem is that at any point we could have dealt with it, but greed seems to be preventing that to the point that we may need a miracle tech breakthrough that is so great, that fixing this issue would be trivial.
Dealing with climate change isn't a binary either/or thing, there's a huge range of potential outcomes we could fall into. Suffice to say that the more we do to reduce pollution now the better things will be in the future, even if we've missed our chance to completely avoid significant warming. We've only barely invested in renewable energy and it's still having a massive impact on emissions.
I agree, we are still making important renewable advancements that are being used more and more.
We need to make counter memes for this bullshit, everyone circlejerking each other over how hopeless the situation is doesn't help anyone.
We had 40 years to fix things 60 years ago. It's too late by every scientific measure. The best we can do now is stockpile and hope to last. The Earth will move on without us. As it did before us.
We're already in the middle of a mass extinction. We can only hope that we won't be one of the species lost.
I say this knowing I'll be one of the first to die...
