Good reason to swap to instances that aren't prudes

[–] damnson 22 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Who wants to scroll past porn in between news and memes? I don’t understand that level of thirst

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago

Just disable nsfw in your settings?

Non nsfw instances like blahaj also have porn comms, you just don't see them in your feed because they're not as popular as the ones in lemmynsfw.

Defederating well moderated instances like lemmynsfw ultimately does nothing but harm Lemmy overall

You can just turn off or blur NSFW posts in your settings. Also why when you create an account it asks you if you want to optionally enable NSFW content. That's an already solved problem. You don't need to defederate for that.

Adults with healthy control of themselves and a respect for reality

I imagine you also have a pornhub tab open on your PC at all times so you can check in every couple of minutes and “control yourself” while you “respect reality”

It's more a case of time and place, I don't want porn when I'm browsing the news, and vice versa.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago (2 children)

then literally just don't check the "show nsfw" content when you sign up. I beg of you just to open your settings a single time and see what's there, it's not complicated.

There are some NSFW posts that I do want to see though, mostly involving Russian soldiers having things dropped on them from a drone.

The porn just clutters up the feed.

Yeah, this seems like a really opportune time to finally make differentiation between porn/nudity and gore/violence when it comes to tags. Be it NSFW vs NSFL or whatever. Reddit should have addit it a long time ago. Lemmy should try to.

[–] Ilovethebomb 4 points 1 year ago

That is a good suggestion actually.

Personally, I'd rather have a separate account for smut, but I'm happy to just block NSFW instances on my main account.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

That's weird as hell but Lemmy should soon implement the block domain feature so you can block them yourself while keeping nsfw from other domains enabled. I don't get it but u do u.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Maintaining separate accounts is even easier, I've got accounts for the different ways I want to pass the time on the internet, and when I'm in the mood I use my lemmynsfw account.

It's not (only) the instances, it's the law prohibiting (some) these instances from allowing minors to access porn.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 year ago

In that way lol. If they don't enable the checkbox, they can simply navigate to the website themselves.
