It's from the section after you finally get a Chocobo and cross the lake. I think the reason it's so impactful is because if you're playing normally you've probably had your whole party one-shotted by that snake at least once. Then you cross and see not only has it been killed, it's been put on fucking display to warn you. Brilliant scene.

Because they changed some plot stuff in the remake. I'm sure you would recognize it if you see it again.

I just played through the scene in the remake the other day. So I know the snake on a stick is there.

OH! I had to look it up, now I remember. I think because they presented it so wildly differently I completely forgot it was the same snake from the original
