Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Some very broken little boys out there.

Unfortunately there are many. And no matter what their interests are, whether it's sports, video games, or going to the gym, there are right-wing groups who have set up shop to welcome them to their side. They provide them fraternity, an in-group to be part of, share their common interest, and pump a steady stream of misogyny and bigotry to normalize it.

And it worked.

That is absolutely horrifying

Democrats' outreach to young people has been lectures and telling them they're too insignificant to care about. What did you expect would happen?

Meanwhile, Republicans told them validating lies.

It’s more than just Democrats, it’s society in general.

You can’t enlist the support of an entire gender by telling them that they are the source of all of society’s evils, and that they themselves are fundamentally evil no matter what, that they are all rapists-in-training, that the world would be better off if they were all killed, and that they are no better than vermin. And more importantly: that when they do something objectionable it is misogyny and bigoted and disgusting and (with some things) even illegal, but when women do it, it is a big nothingburger with zero consequences for the woman.

That’s how you alienate them and push them away.

And the alt-right has stepped in with comforting lies.

Is it any wonder that men have turned away from the left? There is absolutely no visible benefit for them there. So they have gone to where they are openly wanted and desired, where they are intentionally made to feel useful and valued… even though they are just pawns in a class war (Parasite Class vs working class), and will only ever be hurt by those they support.

Where in the Democrat platform says all this? You're using the lies the right uses.

Where in the Democrat platform says all this?

It doesn’t. Hence,

it’s society in general.

That’s the source. Not politics, society. In fact, politics - aside from the laws implemented, which can be exceedingly bigoted and sexist while attempting to be about equality - doesn’t say much about this at all.

Hardly. As a generally liberal person.. I see that the amount of scrutiny white young men go through is more than normal.

[–] mmcintyre 8 points 2 weeks ago

They are literally out there right now with their "your body, my choice" bullshit proving why we they deserved scrutiny in the first place. And where did this "white" shit come from? I hadn't read it was only white guys doing this.

[–] GladiusB 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

This seems very off to me. Like it's manufactured. It might be true. But most of the young men I know hate that guy. And all that he stands for. It's hard to imagine them voting on his side.

We all have our anecdotal experiences. If you're a college student or graduate, going to school or working in an urban environment or coastal state, the data may not reflect your lived experience. But this has been the growing trend in national polls for some time now.

There's also an increasing generational component to this, as millennials age out of the 18-29 demographic. If you're a millennial, this shift may feel even more incomprehensible as millennials appear resistant to the typical conservative shift as they've aged.
