Looks like our pukeko, or takahe.
And googling how to spell that tells me pukeko is a swamp hen. Just use its actual name.
Iirc, pukeko have "only" been in NZ for ~10,000 years - I know there wasn't human settlements in NZ at that point, but I'm just imagining someone waking up one morning and there is this fucking derpy looking bird just strutting around. It'd be like if you went to the park one day and there is just a flamingo standing around like it owns the place
