The way evil pirates steal TV shows is by using a program called a torrent client, like qbittorrent. Torrent clients use something called a magnet link to tell what shows to torrent. Horrible no good criminals browse torrent sites to find the show they want, and then they right click the magnet icon and press copy link. Then they paste that link into their torrent client, and it starts contacting other filthy renegades' computers to grab the files one tiny piece of data at a time. The most horrible pirates make sure to leave their torrents seeding until they've given back what they got from the network. That way, the torrent network can continue to survive and keep committing immoral crimes.
