While I love this, I anticipate September and October will be completely different. I hope Harris and Walz are prepared for a Trump campaign that isn’t batshit crazy.
I don't think I've ever seen such a thing, but I take your greater point. Shit slides off trump like a freshly polished waterslide. Harris and Walz need to be ready for a ceaseless torrent of hate speech, underhanded tactics, bad faith arguments, and attempted treason.
As well as landfills worth of disinformation.
I'm pretty sure Trump has just given up. He's already said he would leave the country, but I'm 100% positive he's now preparing to flee from prosecution.
He's given up campaigning because he has people telling him it won't matter because they plan on installing him "other ways". He thinks he doesn't have to win.
This is kind of my point. I think this is the mentality that breaks people when Trump does a 180 in September. There is way too much time left in this campaign to think he’s given up.
They're just gonna pull their shit together all of a sudden? Im relatively ingorant of politics/elections, so is that a common occurrence?
Yes. Honestly, all Trump has to do is stop whining about Kamala and Walz and start talking about immigration and the economy and this entire race would feel WAY different.
I am willing to bet after the DNC and closer to the debate, Trump will start to realize his current tactics are going to lose him the election. And he will start listening to his advisors again.
He's gonna start talking about crime as well. Republicans always do
True, and they excel at it!
Not really, they’re always getting caught.
well, fuck
Don’t get complacent. That’s all you gotta remember.
We're honestly lucky that the GOP landed on Trump as their dictator wannabe.
If it was someone with actual intelligence and political knowledge, we'd be utterly fucked.
I feel like you find less intelligence in the right wing because their positions are stupid.
Like, you have to be a fool to believe conspiracy theories or racist nonsense.
You don't have to be a fool to exploit those things though.
Even the 2016 campaign was batshit crazy.
But at the time, that actually worked. In large part because that’s just how bad the dems fucked up- first in picking Clinton then in her mismanaged campaign.
It feels like maybe they learned some lessons- an important one being that the republicans aren’t playing by rules anymore, and following them is just gonna set you up for failure.
When I think Trump being “not batshit crazy” I think of the first debate against Biden. Sure every word he spoke was a lie, but he came across as calm and collected. People responded well to that version of Trump.
