john hurley took the mass shooter's gun and was killed by the cops, him sneaking around was the part that lead to him killing the shooter
And getting killed. First rule of engagement is to survive.
very occasionally, acting heroically is worth dying for. but one major rule to surviving is to believe that the cops will act as bad as they possibly can
