Hey folks, My partner and I took our first couple of handgun classes and went to the range a couple more times to try different handguns and practice. We are now at the stage where we are considering buying our first guns.

We want Toyota corolla type guns, highly available parts, large user base and reliable. We hope this will translate to a large knowledge base on potential issues and solutions, ease of maintenance and well suited for beginners.

They landed on the G19 and I on the G45. We have $1k to spend on each gun + potential upgrades. The main areas of focus are increased accuracy and ease of handling. There is a common advice to buy your gun stock and wait before making any changes. I find, when it comes to muscle memory, that the earlier you have your final setup ready, the better it is.

We would need your help and knowledge to make these 2 guns reliable tools with that price constraint. Every gun video out there wants you to upgrade every single part, we rather focus on the essentials that will make us more effective.

Yet another reason the Democrats need to quit it with the "common sense" gun control.

AFG on ar pistol. (self.liberalgunowners)
submitted 1 day ago by meebus_pheebus to c/liberalgunowners

I see most AR pistol builds using angled fore grips and have a 7.5” barrel 9” handguard at pistol on the way. How much difference have those of you who have used an AFG found? I strictly grip the hand guard on my mid size AR rifle and have no complaints there. For those who’ve used them have you noticed a meaningful ergonomic or control advantage on these short barreled pistols?

I have no intention of mounting anything else on the bottom of the handguard(light and laser will be side mounted) so space won’t be an issue.

I don't see how this is constitutional, especially after Bruen.

Definitely a winning position for Democrats.

I love how CO Democrats are just watching the rise of the Orange Reich, and their solution so far is to ban modern firearms and allow sheriffs to decide that black people can't get an exception to the ban.

overgassed AR (self.liberalgunowners)

So, if I have an overgassed AR, and am kinda an idjit, what's the best way to make it gooder?

A heavier spring? Do I need to mess with the gas block or get a different tube? Am I going to have to do all this multiple times to get it right, or is there a suggestion or guide or something?

I don't really know who this guy is but he makes a compelling argument.

Hey all, I'm looking for battle belt recommendations for range days. I currently have a Canik MC9, but plan on getting a 2011 as well. Any belt recs for holding a holster and a couple of mag holders and maybe a cell phone case?

I've been wanting a suppressor for my rifle for awhile, but with the incoming administration I'm worried about having my fingerprints on file due to the tax stamp. On the other hand, I'm seeing a bunch of people recommending suppressors on the subreddit and they don't seem to care. Is my worry reasonable or unfounded?

I've been shooting every now and then for the last 20-ish years and I'm a decent shot. I've shot a handful of different pistols, rifles, and shotguns. Leaning towards getting a pistol, not totally sure what I'd get. It would be for home/self defense but I like to go to the range sometimes. I'm considering:

  • Some sort of 1911
  • Ruger LC380 (is it even possible to get a CCW in CA?)

Any thoughts/recommendations?

I've owned my 9mm for 4 years without ever firing it, finally got up the courage to go yesterday and take a beginner class. Had a pleasant time, cleared away some anxiety. Turns out I'm actually not half bad.

Noticing that this community isn't getting much traffic, is there anywhere else folks are hanging out?

Running out of reality to blame, they got to make stories.

I'd like to get into shooting. Probably mostly going to a range maybe once or twice a week.

I'd like to mostly shoot a rifle, but I'd like some recommendations on - getting a firm footing on the basics (safety, storage, loading, cleaning, etc.) - whether that is via online resources, books, augmented with in-person training, etc.

Also when it comes to a decent rifle for eventual purchase - I'm up for recommendations.

The Fair Representation Act has been re-introduced in Congress. This bold solution can stop gerrymandering and make Congress work for every American.

The Fair Representation Act can solve partisan gerrymandering, make every congressional district competitive, and encourage politicians to represent all of us instead of just their base. It does this by combining three reforms:

  • Multi-member districts. In three- or five-member districts, nearly every voter will elect a candidate they support. Voters like Massachusetts Republicans and Oklahoma Democrats will be represented in Congress. Gerrymandering will become nearly impossible.

  • Ranked choice voting for all U.S. House and Senate elections. RCV frees voters to support their favorite candidates, and encourages candidates to reach out to more voters for second-choice support. When RCV is used in multi-member districts, it is a form of proportional representation.

  • Uniform rules for congressional redistricting

The Fair Representation Act can be passed without a constitutional amendment. It truly has the potential to transform our political system and create a more inclusive and deliberative government which respects and empowers all voices.

what's a good gray bag? (self.liberalgunowners)

Ideally, it be able to hold some weight and a pistol. I'm thinking something along the lines of a sling bag or daypack.

Gushing about CoreXY:

I finally got around to upgrading to a klipper based core xy machine and it is magic I went for the K1 Max, since it was $680 after discounts and it's 300mm^3^ (1.5X the size of a X1C)

Accelerations are 10x faster, print times are 4x shorter compared to my highly modded ender3 and cr-10. this build took about 12hr of print time, normally it was 2 full days.

NO sanding, NO filing, NO heating things up to make them fit right.

Every single piece came off the build-plate perfectly ready to go, aside from my intentionally under-sized pivot and takedown pin holes. I like to drill those out personally...

Now for the specifications:

  • Daichi Upper + shroud (modified)
  • DS1913 Lower v1.2 (modified)
  • Slim Everytown mag (modified)
  • Get Bent angled grip
  • Mini hand stop
  • sling mount is just the mount from SG22 brace
  • Sling is a laptop bag strap 😆
  • The muzzle device is an AKM compensator I modified to work for AR barrels. It works marvelously to prevent muzzle climb. Check the video how the gas is going up and forward.
  • The binary is the mythical Invisibinary by Klaviermeister. It was taken down years ago but if you have half a brain you can find it still. Fosscad of reddit keeps making posts begging for the files every few months lol. they all give up and pay $400 for a storebought binary.

Wondering about reliability? I have thousands of rounds through this binary trigger. check out this clip of a mag dump at 600RPM: https://imgur.com/a/khxhymP

this firearm is for self-defense only. The quote is from Woody Guthrie's guitar ___

Edit - I've been informed in another thread that the mod message may have been misleading and my post was likely removed by Reddit admins. I certainly hope that is true and if so the mods there are not deserving of my misdirected anger.

What's up, all! First post here on Liberal Gun Owners of Lemmy. I thought I'd share my most recent addition. I've wanted one of these for a while but they were pretty scarce for the last couple years. When I saw the 5.56 back in stock I jumped on. I love that it takes AR mags and 5.56 ammo. It's not my most practical purchase but I'm happy to own it.
