No one should have to choose between going to church or going to jail

The leader of conservative think tank The Heritage Foundation argued the Supreme Court’s ruling on presidential immunity will reinforce a “second American Revolution,” which he said would “remain bloodless if the left allows it to be.”

If what they believe is true, one day they may be forced to realize their mistakes.

Oklahoma’s top education official ordered public schools Thursday to incorporate the Bible into lessons for grades 5 through 12, the latest effort by conservatives to incorporate religion into classrooms.

The directive drew immediate condemnation from civil rights groups and supporters of the separation of church and state, with some calling it an abuse of power and a violation of the U.S. Constitution. 

The order sent to districts across the state by Republican State Superintendent Ryan Walters says adherence to the mandate is compulsory and “immediate and strict compliance is expected.”

In a surprising and troubling decision, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario has ruled against Adam Knauff, a firefighter who made global headlines for filing a legal case after he faced discrimination for being vegan. The case raised a novel issue—whether a vegan belief system counts as a “creed”, a protected ground under the Ontario Human Rights Code. Mr. Knauff plans to appeal the decision by seeking judicial review in the Divisional Court of Ontario.

There’s a parable here somewhere.

So I am out with my family for Father's Day and we passed a church who had:

"What's your favorite Bible verse? Post it on our Facebook."

And it got me to wondering how they would react if someone started posting all of the verses from their storybook that specifically call out the behavior of modern Christians. All the ones about welcoming immigrants and providing shelter and care for the poor, or deriding capitalism. Wonder what would happen if people did that en masse? I almost want to write a bot to go through and do it.
