Attempting to unsubscribe from a newsletter results in me being "temporarily blocked"

One good day I wound up with a subscription to a site named Schwans, and I was receiving purchase orders from a guy named "John D." for some reason. So, naturally, I tried to unsubscribe. I got an error message saying:

Sorry, you have been temporarily blocked
We have implemented new measures to help protect against fraudulent activity. Something unusual was detected with your access to schwans.com and you’ve been temporarily blocked. Please contact our team at 1-888-724-9267 and provide the Ray ID shown below. We’ll have you back online as quickly as possible. Thank you for your understanding as we continue to defend and protect customers from ever-changing cybersecurity threats.

Odd thing, so I go into the main website and unsubscribe manually. All fine and dandy until I start getting these emails AGAIN because Schwans decided to rebrand as Yelloh and that apparently reset their unsubscriptions and back to the same shenanigans we go!

Ryanair will ship a physical gift card to your doorstep free of charge if it starts from 100 €, but ask 2 € for a virtual one that is sent via e-mail.

From their ToS:

A €2/£2 (or local currency equivalent) admin fee applies to Digital Gift Cards. A €5/£5 admin and delivery fee apply to Physical Gift Cards. This fee is waived for purchases exceeding €/£100.

Additionally the classic "Same number for differently valued currencies" making these fees approximate and not made based on the actual cost.

That statement is also written in a way that can be ambiguous whether fee is removed for only physical or both types.

And another thing is that it seems they are processing these virtual cards manually. You have to wait around 40 minutes between payment and e-mail. Guess that's why there is a fee, someone has to paste a code in mail and send it out.

Text in the screenshot from Grammarly says:

We develop data sets to train our algorithms so that we can improve the services we provide to customers like you. We have devoted significant time and resources to developing methods to ensure that these data sets are anonymized and de-identified.

To develop these data sets, we sample snippets of text at random, disassociate them from a user's account, and then use a variety of different methods to strip the text of identifying information (such as identifiers, contact details, addresses, etc.). Only then do we use the snippets to train our algorithms-and the original text is deleted. In other words, we don't store any text in a manner that can be associated with your account or used to identify you or anyone else.

We currently offer a feature that permits customers to opt out of this use for Grammarly Business teams of 500 users or more. Please let me know if you might be interested in a license of this size, and I'II forward your request to the corresponding team.

Ubisoft claims they do not want their players to lose access to their accounts but it's pretty clear they do want to (so they can repurchase probably), otherwise they would not implement such feature 🤷

PS: Feels good I didnt buy any Ubisoft (and EA for that matter) in the recent years that requires their stupid launchers

There are several websites like these that list the ingredients of x product before setting foot to x drug store, which is convenient. I didn't use these in forever and something.. changed, see for yourself. My go to site does appwall ingredients as a whole, but this here, yeah, this is AHD content alright.

I initially only installed "Comodo Firewall" but for some reason they also installed a "Comodo Dragon Browser", which I did not consent to. I always choose the "advanced" installation to uncheck bloatware, but in this case there was none and when you try to uninstall the browser, they force you to participate in their survey otherwise you won't be able to uninstall the software..

TLDW: The Phoebus Cartel established 1000 hours as a baseline to get maximum efficiency. longer lasting bulbs would require WAY more power per hour to operate while producing less light.

Planned obsolescence is indeed a thing, but using this as an example of it is incorrect and discredits the overall argument. It's better to focus your attention on right-to-repair laws for your $2000 laptops and $40,000 tractors than on your $2 light bulbs.
