FBI Director Christopher Wray said Tuesday he has never seen a time during his decades-long career when so many threats against the US were all as elevated as they are now, warning senators he sees “blinking lights everywhere.”

During a hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee, ranking Republican member of the committee, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, asked Wray if he saw “blinking red lights” — referring to warning signs the US missed before the attack of 9/11.

“I see blinking lights everywhere I turn,” Wray said.

Wray also said that the bureau is working “around the clock” to “identify and disrupt” potential attacks by individuals inspired by the Hamas attacks on October 7.

Welcome to this month's speedtest megathread. Yep, you heard that right, it's time to show off your speeds.

Format

Location (city, state), Downlink, Uplink, Device, Notes. An example would look like this: "Minneapolis, MN, 554 down, 31 up, Google Pixel 7a, taken in downtown".

Rules

  1. No screenshots. They take up valuable server space, require more bandwidth, and are not accessible to screen reader users.
  2. If you live in a small town or rural area please fudge your location a little. As an example if i lived in Olive Hill, Ky (population 1580) I might use Grayson, Ky (population 3834) instead.

My main browser is Librewolf but I keep a chromium browser just in case. Previously used brave but their flatpak is shit. Ungoogled chromium seems ok but it looks like they don't change much from upstream chromium. Any good chromium browsers which harden their browsers like librewolf does for more privacy?

Scientists develop mega-thin solar cells that could be shockingly easy to produce: ‘As rapid as printing a newspaper’::These cells could be laminated onto various kinds of surfaces, such as the sails of a boat to provide power while at sea.

The vote was 49 in favor to 51 against, meaning the $110.5 billion measure did not obtain the 60 votes needed in the 100-member Senate to pave the way to start debate.

The vote was along party lines, with every Senate Republican voting no along with Senator Bernie Sanders, an independent who generally votes with Democrats but had expressed concerns about funding Israel's "current inhumane military strategy" against Palestinians.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer also voted "no" so that he could introduce a motion to reconsider the measure. After the vote, Democrat Schumer said it was a "serious moment that will have lasting consequences for the 21st century," risking the decline of Western democracy.

Republicans said it was essential to make their case for tighter immigration policies and control of the southern border.
