Which is why I'm a Drupal fan. It's wayyyy too overpowered for every purpose equally. ...If I need a personal blog, there's always Jekyll.

I don't know where this particular fella fits in the history, but turtles evolved from similar quadruped reptiles. Basically, their ribs evolved flat and wide so that their chests could support them better while burrowing tunnels. That turned into the turtle plastron.

Choosing to not use something is not a good way to learn how to use it.

In this particular instance, the lesson is to either a) use the provided database tools (e.g. pg_dumpall) for live backup, or b) bring the database cluster down before you backup the raw data folder.

If I were building a larger site, I'd probably use Drupal.

It's a bit of a departure from the "blogware" mindset though. You're not managing "posts" and "static pages". You're managing stuff. ...Which can manifest itself as pages or posts. Different kinds of content, different kinds of fields. Blogware gets hacky if you are posting anything but pages and posts, but in Drupal, every type of content is equally tweakable.

Also, this is Jeranism, who has a history of doing a bunch of legit experiments, ending up proving globe every single time, admitting as much, then just going "well that's interesting", and keeping believing in flat Earth anyway.

I've lately started using more paper notebooks for various projects. Recently bought a new sketchbook. Will go buy a paper almanac for the next year today.

I'm a huge tech nerd, but I don't think going 100% digital works for me. Also noticed that one of the ways I can deal with ADHD is to stop messing around with computers and do things by hand.

PEGI is a private organisation. The reason it exist is that it allows the industry to regulate itself, because in some jurisdictions, the only alternative would be for the governments to establish their own rating board.

(Not trying to justify what their current policy is in this instance, however.)

Hngh. Balatro already had a bunch of hassle on Switch eShop due to the PEGI ratings change.

Earlier, Nintendo somehow got a PEGI 12 rating for 51 Worldwide Games, which includes poker and blackjack. I wonder what they argued to avoid the 18 rating. "Sure, this compilation has poker and blackjack, but it's not like we made it fun." (It's adequate but compared to Balatro it's very much a non-frills experience.)

Will there be an official Office of Dildo Inspections? With Dildo Inspectors making rounds, carefully checking every household for staying within their allotted number of items? Will the billboards aside the vast highways advertise the government hotline for anonymous reporting of infractions?

And if not, well, they're clearly cowards. If you're going to pass a law like that, you have to go all the way!

Seriously though, I sometimes wonder how this period of time will be described in history books 50 years from now.

I'm also reminded of the old article, which described how the ancient samurai charged into battle, shouting You must install Flash plugin to view this content.

I remember using CDParanoia on Linux and some GUI for it (Sound Juicer?), CDex and Exact Audio Copy.

Quick scanlation from Finnish comic book Pahkasika, issue 9, published in 1981.

Modern update: Flight AY286 + HSL's metropolitan P train will actually get you to Helsinki in 1h 55m. Ah ha! So the trains fix this shit! However, as a Northern witchy biaatch, I'm still flabbergasted by the fact that Jyväskylä is in the southern Finland and they don't even get a Pendolino link to Helsinki. We do, here in Oulu. Please do get better, scrubs.

* Edit: Fucked up the last line in the scanlation. Jyväskylä to Helsinki, obviously.

** Wait Lemmy let me also replace uploaded fuck-ups? This is the best platform ever

So, this will be a metal remix of a song from a game that not a lot of people even have heard about, but I swear it's worth watching.

See the incredibly blatant trademark violation dude (legally speaking it was OK because serial numbers were filed out) running around in one of the C64est of the C64 games ever made while awesome music plays even more awesomely than it did in the original, while 100% keeping with the spirit!

(Made by System 3, the same company which made The Last Ninja games, and you can tell. You can really tell.)

Yes. The 1990s demoscene song by Edge (Kalle Kaivola) of the demogroup EMF (Electromotive Force). The file was bundled with Future Crew's Scream Tracker 3 software, one of the most influential music software packages of the era.

A lot of demoscene songs just lend themselves perfectly to cyberpunk vibes, you know?

From Bing.

Nothing special about the prompt - I've been using variations of "kids petting giant tortoises" in image generators for a while now. Because I like turtles.

Anyway.

There are so many questions I have about this image. That's not a normal position for that turt! Why aren't the kids helpin the poor turt down from the tree stump? And what's up with the turts in the background? Or the hair of that person over there? It's all very confusing. I don't know.

This game made me a lifetime advocate of recycling and bottle deposits. I mean look at that cool dude. Going down the highway with his skateboard. Picking up Coke bottles. Fucking awesome.

Gameplay footage is even more glorious than you can imagine

Inspired by yet another thread about plastic recycling

Well that's sad. Clearly, the homemade dog is the one that was made with love. But that's just my personal commentary.

I usually massively regret my drunken shitposts, but I hope people enjoy this one. Just for c/retrogaming.
