I've been thinking about how great this feature would be. I don't know how Lemmy's codebase could handle it, but this just makes sense to me and would solve the big issue of community fragmentation.

In general the idea is that when you open the comments section of a given post, it should fetch all other comments from crossposts (ones with the same link). Since Lemmy already keeps track of crossposts by linking to their threads, it's just a matter of fetching those comments and showing them in conjunction with the comments in this community. When you reply to a comment that's federated from another community, your reply will go over there.

Also, from what I understand, copies of posts and comments are stored in the instance's local database, so it shouldn't be very expensive to fetch these comments from different posts, right?

How viable would something like this be? Are the Lemmy devs considering something like this?

Full reveal trailer coming at July 13

For the uninitiated, "EA Sports FC" will be replacing EA's FIFA franchise because "the publisher decided it didn't want to "pay a premium" to license the FIFA branding."

Wakanda Forever! As we celebrate the 57th anniversary of Black Panther's comic debut this July, we’re thrilled to announce Cliffhanger Games, a new triple-A development studio based in Seattle, is working on an original, third-person, single-player Black Panther game in collaboration with Marvel Games. Their mission is to build an expansive and reactive world that empowers players to experience what it is like to take on the mantle of Wakanda’s protector, the Black Panther.

iwot productions and Squeeze Studios have announced The White Tower, an animated The Wheel of Time prequel movie that will follow a young girl with a special gift who must rise up against an evil that threatens everything she loves.

"The animation platform has given us the means to expand The Wheel of Time experience by targeting a young adult audience while remaining loyal to the world long cherished by Wheel of Time fans,” said Rick Selvage, CEO of iwot productions. “The White Tower is an action- packed adventure, with a transcendent message of female empowerment that will inspire a new generation of imaginative young women.”

Seems like it's aimed for a younger audience.

Reddit had ways to automatically catch people trying to manipulate votes though, at least the obvious ones. A friend of mine posted a reddit link for everyone to upvote on our group and got temporarily suspended for vote manipulation like an hour later. I don't know if something like that can be implemented in the Fediverse but some people on github suggested a way for instances to share to other instances how trusted/distrusted a user or instance is.

I haven't personally used it but a lot of people say the PWA for Firefox extension works pretty well. You do need to install a program to make it work but it should be seamless afterwards.

Kingdom Hearts feels like a series I would be all over with considering how much I loved Disney and liked Final Fantasy. Shame I never really got around to playing it.

Nobody knows what's up. Apparently the admins lost the domain name: https://feddit.nl/post/458654

On the scale of games that are more fun with friends, Siege is definitely on the top. I play the game exclusively with friends and it's sooo fun. Having a full squad especially feels great to have everyone communicate well and have fun.

On the other have solo queuing is a painful experience. Aside from the toxicity, the game feels kind of pointless when nobody has your back.

Great read and I love the angle you're taking, having the community vote for it is a great idea even if the answer is fairly predictable. Hope other instance admins follow suit.

but hopefully FB takes a while longer to implement federation.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Companies are pretty slow to implement big changes, and when they do federate I doubt they'll initially federate with anything other than major mastodon instances and test the waters.

I knew that was reminding me of something! Been like 6 years since I've played good old CK2.

You can look into the list of games on Game Pass before buying it and see what you're interested in. It's totally worth it for a few months imo to finish your high priority games, but I wouldn't keep it for an extensive period of time since it's pretty expensive.
