Fast follow release. I noticed a lot of users crashing so this release is focused on fixing a lot of crashes. It also fixes and implements more history related features.

• Improve history search
• Limit history page to 1000 to prevent app from lagging
• Improve history tracking
• Fixed a crash when tapping on certain image links
• Fixed a crash when tapping on video links
• Fixed a crash on the sign in page when an invalid URL is entered as the instance
• Fixed a bug where the image can flicker when expanding an item in the community feed
• Fixed a bug where tapping on certain history items would crash the app
• Fixed some minor UI issues

This release is not live at the time of posting but the release has been submitted to the play store. It should be live in ~1 hour after this post.

Hey everyone! We have been blown away by the response to Liftoff and we really appreciate the support of the community. We're passionate about creating an app that we want to use and we're excited with the progress. There have been a ton of updates and bugfixes this week and we wanted to share the latest state of things

• New sort in community page's posts sometimes not working properly
• Unclear usage of everything feed causing seemingly duplicated posts across the difference instances.

Watch out! Theres another update incoming 🎉

This release has a lot of changes under the hood which will pave the way for better performance overall, and hopefully allow for shiner features in the future! There's a lot of quality of life changes in this one to make your experience hopefully better.

Since this release has a lot of under-the-hood changes, its expected that bugs may show up that were previously not there. Please open up a GitHub issue if you find any of those!

The next few items on the roadmap are all kind of small. I'm just going to try to knock as many of them down as I can before the next release!

• Added support for clicking Lemmy links. Clicking on Lemmy links from within the app should open them within the app.
• When navigating back from post screen -> post feed, the post will be highlighted briefly to show where you were looking last on the screen.
• Added double press back to exit
• Tapping back from "Saved" or "History" screen will move to the "Home" screen instead of existing the app.
• Fixed a bug where tapping a post would cause it to appear 3 times in your history

Limbo and Limmynade have joined forces, and will continue development together as Liftoff!

The past couple of weeks have been tremendously exciting times for all of us as events elsewhere have led to a massive growth in interest in and usage of Lemmy.

Our two separate projects both started with the intention of bringing an existing open-source code base Lemmur up to date, with the aim of helping new users to have a great first experience of Lemmy, while giving existing users access to many rich features. As soon as we became aware of each other we realised that we would work much more effectively by combining our efforts. Read more about what makes Liftoff! special.

We are:

Zach—Extensive experience in Enterprise full stack architecture and infrastructure.

Michael—Many years experience of developing and managing commercial and open source software projects.

Liftoff! is written in Dart for API support and Flutter for front-end development, meaning that it can run wherever Flutter runs. Our primary targets right now are Android and iOS, but the sky’s the limit!

Our current development priorities are to:

• Ensure that the app runs robustly on iOS and Android platforms.
• Identify and address any major bugs affecting key functionality
• Work to improve the user experience on both platforms.
• Release 1.0 version

Beta builds now available on TestFlight and will soon be available on F-Play and Google Store. (Note that the TestFlight page still refers to it as Limbo, but it does indeed install as Liftoff!)

We have already had tremendous support from enthusiastic Lemmy users as separate projects and we look forward to continuing to work with you all. Code contributions, bug fixes, issue reports and suggestions are all welcome, so please join us on our journey into the unknown!
